I don't care for either version. Well, when Moonwalker first came out, I thought that cover was the shit. Now I just think it's shit.

Get on the Floor
PYT
(I love the demo version)
The Lady in My Life (his best ballad)
Another Part of Me

Well, for me Off The Wall is miles better than Thriller!

He did some of his best songs with his brothers:

That's what you get for being polite - probably my favorite. Great song written by Michael and Randy

Blues away - fantastic vocals

Show me the way to go - Gamble/Huff

Can you remember - great soulful remake of old Delfonics song

He's best songs as a soloartist are IMO:

Can't help it - written by S. Wonder

Stranger in Moscow - very nice

Miles

Among others, I love -

All of 'Off the Wall' - His best album imo
Jam - killer dance track
All of 'Thriller', with the exceptions of 'The Girl Is Mine' and 'PYT'
Bad - the track
Smooth Criminal - killer
Who Is It?
In the Closet
Give In To Me - Dirty Diana for the '90s
Money
Blood on the Dance Floor - title track, and most of the other new tracks on there.
Stranger in Moscow

And with the Jacksons -
Blame It On the Boogie
Can You Feel It
ABC
I Want You Back

Both versions...but my heart goes with the demo version!

Seems I really should buy The Essetial box someday.
A lot of songs mentioned that I never heard of.

It gets lots of hate, but my all-time favorite Michael Jackson song is "Leave Me Alone". Those synths just kill me!

Other unheralded songs I love of his are:

"Who Is It"
"Workin' Day and Night"
"Off the Wall"
"Get on the Floor"
"Baby Be Mine"
"You Rock My World"
Feel free to join in the Prince Album Poll 2018! Let'a celebrate his legacy by counting down the most beloved Prince albums, as decided by you!

My favorite "rare gems" are:

"A Fool For You"(Killer remake of Ray Charles classic)
"Ain't No Sunshine"(another killer remake of a Bill Withers classic)
"Carousel"
"Someone Put Your Hand Out"
"PYT"(demo version)
"Sunset Driver"(could be a dance/club hit if released today)
"Give In To Me"
"Stranger In Moscow"
"Money"
"Smile"(makes me cry EVERYTIME I hear MJ's version)
"Break of Dawn"(sexy as hell)
"Heaven Can Wait"(moving AND sexy)
"Butterflies"(still my favorite MJ sexy ballad)
"Lady In My Life"
"Blues Away"
"That's What You Get For Being Polite"
"Show You The Way"
"Heartbreak Hotel"
"The Way You Love Me"
"Whatever Happens"(begs to be sung in an unplugged setting. This song has #1 written all over it and would have done great if it had been released with a video and/or performance.)

There are so many great MJ songs that were not no. 1 hits. This thread just reminds me how much Michael's music is missed in the industry. There is no one who can phrase like him, layer harmonies like him or make you feel the "goose bumps" that he does when you hear his voice on the radio.

Everywhere did but the U.S.
I've actually warmed to it over the last year or so but Butterflies is one of the very best on the album, imo.

"Cry" 's not a bad melody and some of the instrumentation is not too terrible either. Tt's just that it's a yet another schmaltzy world-healing number and it containst the worst lyrical theme of his entire career - that of the world becoming a better place if "we all just cried together at the same time". In its category though I think it's far better than "What More Can I Give" or "Heal The World", at least it stays within its own musical boundaries.

The intro is actually quite nice.

R. Kelly is to blame for that. smile
Yeah, lyrically it's quite naff, but Mike has never been one for great lyricism (tho' he's had his moments). It's all about feel.

Fantatic lyrics.
"When Michael Jackson is just singing and dancing, you just think this is an astonishing talent. And he has had this astounding talent all his life, but we want him to be floored as well. We really don´t like the idea that he could have it all."

Wanna be starting something
Another Part of Me
PYT
PYT Demo... If you havent heard the demo then you should
We are here to change the world... I love the base in the song
The way you make me feel
Dirty Diana
Human Nature
Jam
Will you be there
Remember the time
Dangerous
Who is it
You Rock my world
Blood on the dance floor
Scream
Butterflies Remix

so many I can go on and on... but I can say one thing I can listen to every song on Thriller, Bad, Off the Wall, Blood on the dance Floor, and Dangerous...

I just adore him and his music... he's the best... thats why it is SO HARD for me to like other music today... because NO ONE's music can compare to Michael Jackson's.... its like having a cake (MICHAEL JACKSON) and then right after trying to each an old piece of stale bread (Music that is made today)...
