I swear, if I hear the words pretentious in the same sentence as Pink Floyd just ONE more time.... Think of a new one.  Next thing you know someone will come on here and call Beck a "pastiche artist" or something.
I don't think any music is pretentious actually. I can't think of anything I would consider to be that way.  It's an overused term IMO. Just like "brilliant" is so played out that I can't even bring myself to use it any more relating to music because it's lost it's whole meaning and power for me.

I like some fucked up shit that many may dub as pretentious (Velvet Underground, Roxy Music, etc.), but Pink Floyd panders and panders like no other, and I don't get any musical benefit by listening to it. Coldplay is coffee-table music to me. Something inoffensive and bland enough to display without ruffling many feathers either way- and that really pisses me off.
