The Stone Roses

I dusted off their first CD a few weeks ago and have been playing it constantly. I forgot how good these guys were. What happened to The Stone Roses? "Waterfall" and "Made of Stone" are incredible tunes!

I remember when this CD came out and everyone was saying that they were going to be the next big thing (at least in rock critic circles), but a year later I don't remember hearing anything else about this band (at least in America...they were pretty big in the UK if I am not mistaken, but never really did anything here in the states).

Anyone else here Stone Roses fans? Also does anyone know if any of the band members have done anything recently?

hey, i was just spinning the complete stone roses CD last night: elephant stone & she bangs the drum are tops! i love this band! since the debut album, though, they kind of fell apart, tripped on their own image as the next big thing, and by the time second coming was issued in late '94 oasis was starting to happen and nobody cared about the roses. well let's say lots were disappointed in the album. it's pretty good though, kind of self-indulgent. you can ususally pick it up for a couple of dolars used. ian brown (the singer) released an album a few years back, but i have not heard anything from it. i wish they'd get their act together and start recording and touring again. look, oasis got over their one bad record (be here now) and are a great band again, IMO.

TRON

I've just started to get into this band over the past year or so. Love 'em.

Thanks for the info. I didn't even know they released the second CD, I will definitely need to check that one out.

I agree, they need to get it together and release some new stuff soon!

As for Oasis...Their newest one "Heathen Chemistry" has become the CD of the summer for me. Can't get enough of it. It's, by far, their best since Morning Glory. I never hated "Be Here Now" but Shoulders of Giants is the one I was disappointed with.

Their recent tour of the States was incredible. Saw them in NY and Chicago, and the energy from the crowds was just unbelievable. Never felt so good coming out of a show since seeing Prince back in '98 (missed ONA sad )
