El Debarge "who's Johnny" http://www.youtube.com/wa...96xCEW6hzI Even though I blast this alot in the summer, I've been diggin' on the track alot lately. Its so upbeat. ".....eyes gave her away" Shame the self titled album the song came off, was not as much fun as this song

Understandable. I guess El wanted to crossover like Debarge's last album "rhythm of the night" did. Hiring Peter "starship" wolf as producer/writer etc.... gave El the desired hit. Its at least reasonably clever how they got the "who's johnny" line into the chorus (and verses). El sorta reverted back to more rnb on his next album, 1989's "gemini", but damn, his 1986 album really could be the most dated album of all time. Waaaaay too many ballads aswell.

Wow. Iam glad a few of you dig it. When it comes to pure pop music, most people on the org go with critics only. I don't know what critics have to say about the song, but anyway.

I'll repeat what I said about another much-maligned song: I liked it then and I like it now. It's fun!
Besides, everybody needs to be reminded of "Short Circuit" every once in a while. "Whitney was purely and simply one of a kind." ~ Clive Davis

Besides, everybody needs to be reminded of "Short Circuit" every once in a while. Why is it much maligned? I guess because El debarge is capable of more rnb laced songs like his earlier work. Its not an amazing peice of work, but its interesting.

If you want to hear a real El DeBarge dance cut, try You Wear It Well. THAT song is a 80's jam!

Horrible song thank God that he followed it up with the excellent "Love Always".

One of the worst songs of the 1980s. Everytime I heard "Who's Johnny", I thought to myself, "Who Cares". Andy is a four letter word.

Yeah, that song is OK. Its produced by Bacharach and Carole Bayer Sager. its not the best ballad on the album though, but it is the most soulful. Personally, "Secrets of the night" would of been a good single. Was this song a single?

Not sure, but I really like "Someone",another nice ballad from the album I think he's better at ballads and slow jams than he is at uptempo stuff.

Check the songwriting credits Jay Graydon (airplay, planet 3) Robbie Nevil Mark Mueller. I know little about the last name, but the first 2 can be found on quite a few 80's songs. I got what must be a song meant for el debarge. A demo called "Push it in". You'd hate it. Iam guessing as its writing by jay graydon and his team, and the singer (clif magness) sounds like he is imitating El, that it was intended for him.

I don't mind grocery shopping to this one (last time I heard it over loudspeakers).
