It all changed when gangster rap stopped being george clinton samples (that early westcoast stuff was funky) and started being watered down, tuneless songs that seemed designed over a massive sample. I dont blame hammer for this. He did it and he did it in a fun way, besides he stopped it by his next album "too legit to quit". Even bringing in real horns on some of the cuts.
