Wouldn't think you were the type. But yeah, great song. It's the best one from their only weak album.

I just don't like it very much. I'm glad she went solo after that. The 2 songs mentioned are the only ones I'm crazy about.

Diva is definitely better, but I really enjoy 8 of the 10 We Too Are One tracks, plus the B-sides. Feel free to join in the Prince Album Poll 2018! Around November, I went through a Eurythmics phase. Anyway, now I have almost everything except 'We Too Are One', 'In the Garden' and 'Sweet Dreams'. I know I need 'Sweet Dreams', but are '...Garden' and '...One' essential also?
If it helps, "Savage" is my fav. Eurythmics album. I'm the first mammal to wear pants.

If it helps, "Savage" is my fav. Eurythmics album. In the Garden is an unheralded masterpiece- definitely crucial. Feel free to join in the Prince Album Poll 2018! Let'a celebrate his legacy by counting down the most beloved Prince albums, as decided by you!

If it helps, "Savage" is my fav. Eurythmics album. "Sweet Dreams" is their defining moment. It's perfect. "In the Garden" gets overlooked a lot because it's a bit more fractured and guitar oriented than their other stuff. But it's probably my favorite thing they ever did. It fits really well with Bowie's Berlin era stuff and reminds me quite a bit of "Lodger" and "Scary Monsters". Definitely pick it up. I've never been a big fan of "We Too Are One", but most folks dig it.

Annie and Dave. I'm the first mammal to wear pants.

Yeah, I never really thought of it in those terms before, but you're right there are definitely some ties w/ "in the garden" and Berlin-era Bowie. Very cool. Great album. I've been digging "your time will come" and "she's invisible now" lately.

If it helps, "Savage" is my fav. Eurythmics album. Mine too, and I can't stand We Too, save for "Angel" and a couple others. It's very much the beginning of the Adult Contemporary sound that Annie carried on with... [Edited 1/5/07 13:08pm]

I still love it, but side 2 in particular has always struck me as fairly weak. "How Long" is among their weakest tracks, IMHO. It definitely sounds like a b-side to me.

Should we go for a Annie/Eury power ranking?

Well, if "We Too" is better than Revenge and Savage, then I'm really in for a treat. Revenge is excellent, and I'd rank Savage up with the best releases from '87 (Joshua Tree, Sign, Document, Nothing Like the Sun, Faith.... actually one of my favorite Musical years ever)... And having Stevie play the harmonica part, was just an added bonus!! "Love is like peeing in your pants, everyone sees it but only you feel its warmth"

I really don't think the Eurythmics albums get the respect they deserve. They are all just stellar, really. Very few weak tracks on any of the albums. They are edgy while still being very accessible. Perfect mix of alternative/experimental and pop... and amazing songwriting. Fantastic melodies, and Dave Stewart was completely underrated as a producer and arranger.
Listen to the bridge section of "There Must Be an Angel" that begins: "I must be hallucinating, Watching angels celebrating..." Annie's vocal is simply sublime, the arrangement is wonderful... it's moments like this that make Eurythmics so great.
