Bobby Byrd

We all know Bobby Byrd was James Brown right hand man, (or was it the it other way around). Were would music be today if Bobby had not heard JB singing from behind the chain link fence 56 years ago.

Yes, I have this and it is great. Bobby was imo the other beat of JB's heart in the late '60s - early '70s. A great double act, kind of the Sam and Dave of funk.

If not for Bobby's 'Get On Up's to JB's 'Get Up!', where would we be? And they were awesome together on live versions of 'Soul Power'. cool

'I Know You Got Soul' and 'I Need Help' are bona fide soul and funk classics.

He was really the man who got James started back in the mid-1950s. Without him, JB's career would have taken another turn, although I'm not quite sure, which one.

James probably would've been a preacher like he said he wanted to do..
