There's no question that Alicia Keys is talented.

There's also no question that she was built to sell. If judged by that intention, she's accomplished her goal.

Some artists need time to grow. I doubt seriously if she's allowed that growth under the wing of Clive Davis 'hitmakerextraordinaire'. Anybody remember that Stevie Wonder, although clearly talented, wasn't much more than fluff under the guidance of Berry Gordy.

However, when allowed to follow his muse without the intrusion of music charts or sales expectations, he eventually delivered some of the most beautiful music the 70's saw.

Patience, I think, is the word here.

That's my whole point.Alicia is talented but instead of allowing her to blossom and *GROW* as an artist, they're already rewarding her with multiple Grammys, and acting if she is the most talented creature on the earth. This may create a certain kinda "career backlash",not to mention alot of hype that she may not be able to live up to.As I mentioned above,Prince didn't start receiving that kinda recognition until his fifth or sixth album, thus he was allowed the opportunity to GROW as an artist. But,I guess nowadays the media is so desperate to find "the next big thing" that they just can't wait.
that is why we have a Show like "American Idol" in search of right now right here.I don't have a Problem with Folks Winning a ton of Awards but I can't get with One Damn Song being the End all be all unless it's a truly Great Song?now the song Alicia Keys Jacked for Her Hit "Fallen" was James Brown's "It's a Mans WOrld" now that is a Classic worth Winning a Grip of Awards but James&the Grammys are kinda over do.

Alicia is the future, she's real, she sings, she performs and she gives props to the great ones (prince) If she didn't deserve the grammy's then who did? I'm not impressed with none of the new so call artist. But she is the cream of that crop. Someone said how can a album win with only one hit. Well look at santana, he won everything with one hit. And nobody said a word, except that he was due, due my behind, he had one hit and now he's the greatest and he didn't sing on the record and if he did it was very little. Grammy's for that, I don't think so but he did get them so more power to him. Alicia is still young and growing up fast, she will be the next Whitney Houston. And she will win many.many, many more awards because she is the future. A real musician, a singer and has her on style. Well that is what music is all about, at least to me. If they will not give Prince his props then aleast give a prince clone some props.
How you gonna get my back when you fronting.

Actually, the Santana CD had two Number One hits :"Smooth" and "Maria,Maria" and both songs were Number One for many weeks. Also,Santana's Grammy sweep came almost *30 YEARS* into his career. He wasn't treated like an "overnight success story",he worked hard and finally got his due after many, many years.

maybe alicia key's album wasn't excellent and perhaps she didn't deserve to win so many awards for her first album,
nonetheless it's not like she's the one voting is she? isn't it the grammy commitee and the musicains who vote, and not the artist?
