I've still got her opening at the AMA's in the late 80's that my older sis taped at the time. Incredible opening. Infact, its the best opening to one of those events I have seen.
I watched the "vibeology" MTV award recently, and she looks OK to me? Why she has to prove herself by singing live though is beyond me, but its a damn good performance.

I'm amazed that I used to own Paula's first album and all the 12" singles 'cos I can't stand them now. The remix album wasn't terrible though. I could still listen to that--also "Promise Of A New Day" from 'Spellbound'.

The org is cool like this so I don't have a problem admitting: The first cassette I bought with my own money was her debut, but I had LONG forgotten about "Knocked Out".

When I think of that song, it reminds me of her performance on the 1990 AMA's. This is how I remember Paula Abdul

"Knocked Out" was very underestimated. That one really hooked me in. That was overall a very strong pop album.

America rarely picks the right winner anyway. Besides, it's highly unlikely any of them will ever be as popular as she was. "Whitney was purely and simply one of a kind." ~ Clive Davis

Emotions Descendin-on-a-Rope was definitely the `89 performance I don't remember "Emotions" being performed? That was my older sister's music back then.

That version of the song has stuck in my head since that time. She adds an extra run of dolphin calls to the dolphin chorus at the end. In my head, whenever I listen to the album version I still hear it.
