Tim Burton's "Batmen" duel: FACE TO FACE Vs. BATDANCE

Okay people...here's the deal. Tim Burton did the best Batman movies ever (forget the other shit movies...but Batman begins was cool!)

And now for the duel:

Prince's Batdance:

Siouxsie and the Banshees' Face to Face:

I vote for Siouxsie... biggrin

Something about Siouxsie's vocals stick with you. Everytime I think of Batman Returns, "Face to Face" is the first thing to come to mind.

For Batman, it's not even "Batdance" - it's "Vicki Waiting."

I vote for Siouxsie in this round.

Yes. It's played during the big ballroom party scene.

To be honest I really never associated the prince batman cd with the movie.

Danny Elfman did the soundtrack and did a wonderful job.

the P thing was just a fun to listen to but it really had nothing to do with the movie.

Burton just wanted to use a bit of 1999 and prince just jumped on the train.

which would have been great if, burton had used the prince stuff.

but the stuff prince gave them had nothing to do with the feel of the movie.

That's not entirely correct. At an early stage, the film's producers were considering both Prince and Michael Jackson for the soundtrack. The plan was for Michael to do several tracks, and Prince to do several tracks. It was just an idea though...I don't think they ever asked MJ to participate.

yes they did..but he couldnt do it due to scheduling conflicts...and i've yet to see anything to confirm the mj vs prince angel. imdb says mj was asked first. and then they asked prince.

hmmm i remember reading an interview with Jack Nicholson and him saying that Prince was the first that came to (his) mind because of the Joker's love for purple.

i also remember reading Prince turning down the project until he was invited out to see the set and by the next week after he'd completed the soundtrack.

that was how it was spun at the release of the album...nicholson and burton were/are big fans of prince...but then the mj story started to float...but, it could just be that a studio head pushed for mj, they asked and mj was busy and that was that...

or the mj vs prince story could be true...i love how these things take a life of their own, morph into new stories and then some. lol
