prince may as well have been rick's ex-boyfriend (the one he hated so much but yet n'still kept his name in his mouth because he still had feelings for 'im) or something, he dissed him so much.

Honestly, I have always wondered if something sexual happened between the two of them on the "Fire It Up" tour because Rick definately seemed like a scorned ex-lover. . . Yeah,he was the first major artist to complain about the lack of black artists on MTV.In a sense,it looks like Prince should have thanked Rick James.Shortly after Rick made a big fuss,MTV suddenly added Michael Jackson and Prince to their playlist.

I remember that, he called them a "racist TV network". Still is, even after his death.

I remember that. Michael Jackson had to fight like hell to get played on MTV. His record company had to threaten to pull their white acts from the channel before MTV would play him. Rick had fought with them also and there's a rumor that MTV learned of Rick's dislike for Prince and played "1999" just to piss Rick off. It's something to think about because their argument was that MTV was a channel that played rock music but "1999" was funk. "Super Freak" is much more rock sounding than "1999". to this day,I think MTV screwed up by not showing "Super Freak".That song is pop with a New Wave feel to it.Same thing with Cameo's "Alligator Woman".

Both of those are much more rock sounding than "1999". Also, with Prince's appearance, he had an appearance that he might could "pass" for white. I know the first time I ever saw him on "American Bandstand", I didn't know what the hell he was.....black or white....as far as straight or gay goes, I said immediately....gay, gay, gay. He knows he did some prancing on that show. As for Rick and Cameo, on the other hand. There was no question about their race. Andy is a four letter word.
