On the last but one show he played the whole set, then, instead of coming out for an encore, announced that he'd had a sore throat and didn't feel that his performance had been up to scratch so he played the whole set again - plus encores. He was an electrifying live performer. You should check out the Live At Folsom and Live At San Quentin albums if you don't believe me, or better still watch the San Quentin DVD, which is an astonishing document in its own right. Or better still, don't. Branding June Carter a "whore" because she slept with a married man - you should be ashamed of being such a backward reactionary twerp. Actually, you're a lot like those backward, puritanical old biddies in "Walk The Line", who give June a hard time for running off with John. Maybe that's why you liked the film so much. But it also features an R Kelly cameo. He comes out of the closet and anoints the scene with a shower of gold. There are three sides to every story. My side, your side, and the truth. Just a bunch of shit on youtube. I'm telling you I would prob like them if I hadn't seen the other two first. I just think the actors sound better. I'm goin to look up this quintin thing now. ----- Check out the San Quentin DVD. Really good and I am not a big country music fan. In addtion, I think that John and June were pushing forty when they hooked up. The movie actors may have been a two young to play them but it is Hollywood.

people have been ripping HIM off for decades! Who ripped him off? I guess no one cuz he's dead. But I say Walk the Line is falsely advertising Johnny Cash. THATS a rip off.

THATS a rip off. bono ripped johnny cash off. nick cave ripped him off. tons of rock musicians have ripped off johnny cash, and they'll proudly admit to it. it's like saying you rip off bob dylan or the beatles - it's almost considered a good thing to rip him off.

i think her older recordings are fantastic. she doesn't have the range of, say, a loretta lynn or a tammy wynette, but june was more of a folk/mountain music singer and less of a torchy country vocalist. her vocals on later albums are kind of weak and feeble sounding, but then again, you could say the same about johnny's later albums.

I haven't actually heard her as a young woman, maybe you're right. She just didn't seem to have much feel when I saw her. Johnny always had the voice, and his delivery was so real, right up to the end. My Legacy

The problem I had with Joaquin was that a huge part of Johnny was his incredible voice--like Barry White. Joaquin's a good actor, and he sang okay, but there was nothing special about his voice (not to mention that he was just imitating the original anyway). but you're right, it's fun to push people's buttons here. They take it so seriously. If you really want to piss them off, start a thread about how much better Elvis was than Little Richard My Legacy
