I have a daughter who just celebrated her 10th birthday. She made a song list for a CD she wanted me to burn for her party and their many dance contests they had that night. Here's the list:

"Don't Cha" - Pussy Cat Dolls
"Fergalicious" - Fergie
"She wants to move" - NERD
"Roses" - Outkast
"Don't Phunk with my heart" - Plack Eyed Peas
"Gold Digger" - Kanye
"Show me what you got" - JayZ
"Come Back To Me" Vanessa Hudgens
"My Humps" Black Eyed Peas
"Wind It Up" Gwen Stefani
"Walk Away" Kelly Clarkson
"London Bridge" - Fergie
"Permiscuous Girl" Nelly Furtado

We don't approve of 90% of those songs, but seeing that it was for her slumber party, I went ahead and made the CD.

My 11 and 14 year old boys, on the the other hand, like this kind of stuff: Taking Back Sunday, Sum 41, Panic at the Disco, My Chemical Romance, Fall Out Boy, Blink 182, All American Rejects.

HOW CAN YOU LET YOU 10 YEAR OLD CHILD LISTEN TO THAT CRAP... do you know your rottening her brain...
dont be surprised if she is having sex by the age of 12 or 14.... that music isnt good for kids to listen to...
and thankfully i had a decent family and mom.. and I WAS NEVER ALLOWED TO LISTEN TO that crap... i didnt even listen to the radio until i was almost 13 or 14...

STOP LETTING YOUR CHILD LISTEN TO THAT MUSIC... let children be pure.. and stop taking their innocence away from them....

just reading those list of songs.. make me VERY ANGRY.. that anyone could let a 10 year old child listen to that...

and then people wonder why kids are having sex at a young age.. and why everyone is so corrupt...

that music teaches kids NOTHING BUT DISRESPECTING THEMSELVES...

PARENTS TODAY ARE SO IRRESPONSIBLE...

I dont care if anyone takes offense because of what i said... because if your letting your children listen to that music.. you should feel ashamed... IM JUST SPEAKING THE TRUTH

My daughters are 10 & 7. They are 2nd generation Funkateers. Anything Clinton ,Prince, Ohio Players ect.they love. They still can't make the connection between old Micheal and new Micheal. At the Chris Brown show, we told them how much the dancing was like Mike's. Thay laughed "You mean MJ used to be a good dancer?"

The last week they have insisted on Puffy in the car. It is kinda growing on me. Very 80's, Cherelle-like.
since Run & Them were saying "Here we go"

Unfortunately, that looks like my daughter's playlist but she just turned 18 so there's nothing I can do about it. As she was growing up I exposed her to vasts amounts of diverse music including everything from Prince to Frank Sinatra...from Smokey Robinson and The Miracles to Simon and Garfunkel but we live in the age where there's no accounting for talent or good music. All that matters is hype and record sales! With that in mind, that kind of playlist probably gets more spins than a Las Vegas roulette wheel.

If you want to be pissed at someone for this decline in music. Start with the folks that make the most money as a result of this trend!

um what are you talking about.... i don't really understand your reasoning... and people are gambling with their kids when they expose them to certain music and television.... its a gamble because sometimes they might turn out okay if you let them listen to that music... and most of the time they dont....

it has NOTHING TO DO WITH RECORD SALES.. its about the lyrics and the content of the music... most of those songs are singing about sex..anddegrading women, and all this nonsence that kids should NOT be listening to... thats why kids are going up faster and having sex at all 9, 10, 12... these babies are having sex...

KIDS should not be allowed to listen to any kind of music or watch any kind of show on tv... ITS NOT right...

the black eye peas sing about "mixing their milk with her coco puff".. .and promiscious girl... sings about a girl sleeping around...

DO YOU REALLY WANT YOUR KIDS FILLING THEIR SPIRIT WITH THAT KIND OF MUSIC... that will rott their brains...

teach kids about sex at a young age is NOT going to prevent them from having.. its going to backfire and they will be trying to take intrest in it...

its NOT the people who make the music.. its the parents who allow their kids to listen to it... parents have the ultimate control about what their kids do.. like NOT let your young kids watch MTV or VH1... and even Nickleodeon is getting worse... with sponge bob

anyways... you said your daughter was exposed to all kinds of music.. and she just turned 18... so ask your daughter how many guys she has slept with... so far...

and then you can decide for yourself if that music and other factors in her life... influenced her to do that

Umm...I don't know what you're talking about but I was talking about the record industry executives! eek They're the reason music today sucks because all they care about is hyping crap for the sake of record sales.

Do you really believe that listening to that music makes a girl sleep around? Honey, if that's happening it has nothing to do with the music! It has everything to do with the overall upbringing of that child! That's on the parents!

I don't have to ask my daughter how many boys she's slept with. I already know! How do I know? Because my daughter and I COMMUNICATE with each other. When a parent is ACTIVELY involved in their child's life and has provided a solid foundation of morals and values for that child...all the CRAP music in the world can't influence that.

Kid's are going to have sex WHEN they are ready to have sex. Instead of condemning them, try EDUCATING them about sex! Make sure they know how to protect themselves. Make sure they aren't confusing sex for love. Most importantly, be the person they WANT to come to when they have questions or issues!

Your comments are ridiculous. There are many factors contributing to kids having sex at young ages. Blaming it on the music and the media is just an easy way out.

30 years ago kids WERE doing the stuff that kids are doing today. The only difference is today it's more visible.

Telling a child to wait until they're married before having sex is a noble gesture but seriously unrealistic. The best thing to do is to talk to that child about sex. Instead of sitting up on a soapbox condemning what comes naturally, arm that child with enough KNOWLEDGE so when the time comes (and it will come whether you want it to or not) they'll be able to make the right decisions for themselves!!

I have a son and a daughter. Both are legally grown now. Neither has ever had an STD and neither has any babies. Too bad I can't say the same thing for their friends whose parents just armed them with noble gestures!

My youngest is eight and she's really into all of the Disney fluff that's out there. I am slowly exposing her to Prince, she wants to be a singer...She also likes Heather Hedley and Mariah Carey...
