Shoo Be Doo is easily the worst song Madonna ever recorded. Too bad it just wasn't scrapped and replaced with Into the Groove on Like A Virgin. Shoo Be Doo = Shit on a shingle with a boytoy belt on top.

I actually like this song very much for some reason. I understand what she was trying to do with the lyrics that could have been written by a 5-year-old. We have heard about Madonna's parents endlessly, but I didn't mind this. Me too. Easily my fave from American Life. Feel free to join in the Prince Album Poll 2018! Let'a celebrate his legacy by counting down the most beloved Prince albums, as decided by you!

Act of Contrition, what is it about, apparently Prince had some input, its the stinker on the best Madonna Album of all. I mean Cherish was on this album and Dear Father, come on!!!!! 17 Years ago I made a commitment to Prince

Open Your Heart was originally for Donna Delory Nope, Rip is right. Cole and Rafelson initially wrote the song, then titled "Follow Your Heart", for Cyndi Lauper. At one point The Temptations were slated to record the tune, but then Benny Medina found out Madonna had already cut it. [Edited 12/29/06 4:13am]

Gambler
Jimmy Jimmy White Heat Love Makes The World Go Round Can't Stop (F.I.L.L.E.R) Cry baby Don't Stop (Some nice guitar work on here - but its too repetitive & the lyrics are awful) One More Chance (Particularly that "Queen of hearts" line - YUK) Shanti Ashtangi Be Careful With My Heart (madonna - turned down a duet with Frank Sinatra/does duet with Ricky martin - what a snorefest it was too) American Pie (Nothing need be said) Runaway Lover (Hi-NRG never was my thing) Die Another Day (I dont think this is rubbish - there's the makings of a good song here - but i HATE the vocoder on her voice - this would sound better with a more powerful vocal) American Life (Again the maikings of a good song, ruined by vocoder nonsense, and the daft rap) Like It Or Not (Hate it hate it hate it)

One More Chance (the entire song is a cliche)
Don't Stop ("Sing la de dah de" ) Freedom (This one was so bad I've forgotten how it went) I'm the first mammal to wear pants.

I can never get behind this "White Heat" hatred. It'll never be considered a Madonna classic, but is it really that bad? Maybe it's just nostalgia, but I think it's a fun little song. I'm the first mammal to wear pants.

I like White Heat too, but I think the big problem is Richard Marx doing backup vocals. The intro is cool tho, is it from a movie or just an original skit?

I don't really consider "Act Of Contrition" a real song anyway. It's more like an interlude....an experiment,to close out the album. The other songs are lyrically "heavy" so I think she wanted to end things with a little humor... I love "White Heat"! In fact,if it were up to me,I would have chosen this as a single instead of the bland "Open Your Heart"

No way. That song (and the entire debut album) is awesome. That album is overrated

I would say Die Another Day easily. Sure the likes of Jimmy Jimmy, I Know It and Pretender are weak but they were recorded earlier on in her career. Die Another Day came out in 2002 and was devoid of even a melody. When i heard i couldn't believe how bad it was and to think the producers of the Bond series accepted this pile of shit. For Madonna to even consider this song worthy is a joke. It's an insult in every way.
