GQ is responsible for one of 1979's best Disco hits "Disco Nights (Rock Freak)",which ruled the airwaves in the summer of that year. They followed it up with a successful cover of Billy Stewart's "I Do Love You".

Other hits include "Standing Ovation"(1980) and another Billy Stewart remake "Sitting In the Park"(1980).After one final hit in 1981 (the catchy "Shake"),they seemed to have disappeared.

GQ had a light,breezy,heavily-synthesized funk sound. As such,I think they were considered more of a "Disco band" at a time when Disco was supposedly over. That explains why they never really got their props. They continue to tour, playing at Super Oldies shows.(Well, actually it's just their lead singer touring as "GQ").
