I guess U can set any criteria you want to generate the list that suits your own musical tastes. Anyways....any list of top 100 artists that does NOT have EWF or Pfunk on it really is a joke, irrespective of musical taste. Bands like these are still revered and loved and infuential to this day, whether in music, stage show, providing musical samples for whoever. Their music turns up in movies....and they continue to be mentioned very highly amongst current artists, Jazz or otherwise are some of their primary influences. Grammy Nominations and awards are included, as are the Mercury Prize Awards. P-Funk is in the top 100 (74 actually). Feel free to join in the Prince Album Poll 2018! Let'a celebrate his legacy by counting down the most beloved Prince albums, as decided by you!

Isn't everyone a "has-been" though? Some people are "never-wases"

This list is fraudulent because from 1-30, only Jimi and Stevie could or should be ranked ahead of James Brown on any list. Neil Young ahead of Stevie Wonder is a disgrace. So is Elvis Costello ahead of Marley. So is Van Morrison ahead of Aretha durn Franklin and the Smiths ahead of John Coltrane and Miles Davis.
This list strikes me as if it were made by white kids from the suburbs who listened to the 5-10 black records their parents owned, wrote the Dead Kennedys all over their Trapper Keepers, and nodded their heads whatever black artists were on MTV or played by the DJ at their frat parties or wedding receptions. Ridiculous doesn't even begin to describe that list! Acclaim, talent, success, etc... there's no reasonable criteria that would put acts like Stevie Wonder, Aretha Franklin, and James Brown that low. Chuck D himself would bitch slap the guy for putting JB below PE. Ludicrous! "Whitney was purely and simply one of a kind." ~ Clive Davis
