Caught the Dec22 show at the Paramount, where they were filming a DVD. Dweezil did this thing right; though Frank's carnival atmosphere was missed, it just meant more time for the music. Overwhelming musicianship on all levels like I've never experienced, still getting over it...

Come to think of it, I will NOT list this album after all. Paola's version is so good (also on my Pure list) that I really severely dislike the neneh Cherry version very much, thank you.

The Neneh Cherry (& Annie) version isn't as melodic to me. Not to mention what I said earlier about hardly hearing Neneh on the album version.

I deeply enjoyed Silent Shout. A lot of folks I think didn't get it. But, sonically, I thought it was very avant garde and experimental. I liked that they took a chance and went their own route on this record and didn't try to rehash another Deep Cuts just to please a lot of those casual folks who started paying attention to them with that album.

I read somewhere that lead singer Karin's going to release a solo project sometime later this year.

We Share Our Mother's Health was my first impression of them and that song... I cannot say what an impact it had. It was like hearing Björk's Army Of Me for the first time on a crowded dancefloor.

Of course, it is hard to get into them; like the Eurythmics, their music is cold when it comes to presentation, but their aloofness does not keep me from getting warmed by these sounds; I can hear the soul.

If people ask me to describe their music, which people always do when I am enthousiastic about music, I say; Knive = Eurythmics (83)+ Twin Peaks Soundtrack+ sonic Björk.
With maybe a pinch of Matthew Herbert and/or Ellen Allien.

It's definitely a thinking person's album. I like that only a few can feel warm to it. There's a beauty in what they conveyed. This is another of those albums that produces colors when I close my eyes and play it.
