I really like the chilling effect of Gone and the way it ends. Eerie, scary...

it's a haunting song...the production is fantastic and the lyrics are great.

I don't have the album but the song "Music" is one of the best songs I've heard this decade, along with some songs by Prince and Jamiroquai. Hell, that's about all that's been worth shit this decade.

speaking of Jamiroquai,I think their 2001 CD 'A Funk Odyssey' is the best album of this decade. They're making the best modern-day disco/dance music right now.Madonna should work with them.

It would be nice

I disagree. I felt they were more reflective and personal. Certainly less pop-oriented (lyricall) than her prior albums and certainly more substance that "I like to Rhumba Rhumba Rhumba to a Samba Samba Samba"

But lets face it...Madge is not the best when it comes to Lyrics. I just felt she was going from substance to fluff.
[Edited 12/20/06 14:56pm]

The best lyrical moments of ol'madge "come" from the Erotica album

probably, although "Mer Girl" is one of her best lyrics imo.

Madonna has written and/or sung a lot of great POP lyrics IMO. Her best:

Burning Up
Physical Attraction
Into the Groove
Dress You Up
Live To Tell
Like A Prayer
Promise To Try
Til Death Do Us Part
Oh Father
Deeper and Deeper
Waiting
Secret Garden
Rain
Secret
Inside of Me
Love Tried To Welcome Me
Forbidden Love
Swim
Skin
To Have and Not to Hold
What it Feels Like For A Girl
Gone
Hollywood
Get Together
Jump

...all brilliant lyrically in the pop sense

Madonna and Jamiroquai would go good together and yeah, "A Funk Odyssey" is my choice for best album of this decade also. This is the type of music that should catch on.....but it won't.

I'm really surprised 2 c that "Confessions" has so many supporters cuz it was really a disappointment 2 me, like Madonna getting as low as Kylie Minogue & actually releasing the only album in her career that i'd qualify as "crap."
Matter of opinion, i guess.

It's an album she needed to make.'American Life' alienated many fans who felt that it was too slow, too acoustic and just not very fun. With COADF,Madonna got back in touch with her dance music roots.

My point is that many Madonna fans think Kylie is somehow beneath them, musically. Which I find ODD, considering....

Did you buy Goldfrapp's new one?

No,I don't think Kylie is beneath me.I've heard a few of her songs and honestly,I wasn't really impressed. There isn't much "personality" in her songs,or at least the ones I heard.Maybe it's a European thing? No,I didn't buy Goldfrapp's latest. To tell you the truth,I don't listen to alot of "modern" music.Madonna is old school to me,lol

Furthermore,I'm sure there are many Kylie fans (like yourself) who think Madonna is crap.It works both ways.

Whatever floats your boat! This is just a feeling shared by many fans, it seems.

I grew up with her around. I was 10 when she debuted. I thought she was decent enough, but she soon dropped off the radar for me.

I was 10 in '95. I had never heard her before Fantasy, which I really liked. Daydream remains my favorite Mariah album.
