Jennifer Holliday needs to take a cue from Pattie Lapune. You didn't see her bitch about the Evita Movie.
I remember watching this New Years Day 97 when it opened in Kansas City with my Mom. You CANNOT use the name of God, or religion, to justify acts of violence, to hurt, to hate, to discriminate- Madonna

It was a good flick. In fact the ONLY Madonna flick where she acts (it's probably because she sings and doesn't talk). However, I still think the overall casting was underwhelming. [Edited 12/19/06 17:56pm]

She doesn't have to, Patti got more access than Holliday. Holliday's ONLY CLAIM OF FAME is "Dreamgirls" sadly. So, I won't raise an eyebrow if she was paranoid about it.

I remember watching this New Years Day 97 when it opened in Kansas City with my Mom. actually Patti Lupone bitched up a storm for 15 years because every director associated with the movie refused to cast her. Everybody knows that! If you had paid attention, the thread is about the movie, not the original musical that's started around 1976!

No, you just showed a pic of Madonna and expected everybody to just know there was Evita before her. People who suck Madonna's dick probably think the character was written specifically for her

If you're unconvinced that a particular plan of action I've decided is the wisest, tell me so, but allow me to convince you and I promise you right here and now, no subject will ever be taboo. Except, of course, the subject that was just under discussion. The price you pay for bringing up Madonna's penis as a negative is... I collect your fucking head. Just like this fucker here. Now, if any of you sons of bitches got anything else to say, now's the fucking time!

and you call yourself a Madonna fan?! Perhaps your brother should send you this as a Christmas gift: It's an excellent movie....beautifully filmed with amazing costumes and set designs. You can tell that they spared no expense with this movie.Madonna is superb, her singing is also very impressive. In my opinion, the two best Madonna movies are this and 'Who's That Girl'.

Not the Madonna fans they were showing on tv when it came out, nor the ones I knew. They didn't even know who the hell Eva Peron was If you want a madonna thread that suits your needs, I can arrange one!
Kinda like how Madonna had the key signature changed in the music to suit her needs and cater to her limited vocals? That would be great. Thanks

Thanks any Madonna fan worth their weight in gold would know that M was lobbying for the role since 1987 a full nine years before the film was released and was offered the one 3 times before the final production. Kim Basigner almost got the role. It was also offered to Pattie, Gloria, and Michelle Pfeffier before the film was made. Therefore know that the film was based on the Andrew Llyod Weber/Tim Rice show from 1979.
