I'm thinking to myself..."You do know that Prince started out as and has remained a funk/rock act (well most of the time). Country is the furthest thing from what Prince is known for. Tell that to LeAnn Rimes. This country diva cover Purple Rain! And I can picture The Judds or even The Dixie Chicks covering The Belle Of St. Mark. Prince would love the royality checks in the mail.

This is great for me, as my list (and you know I've got one!) includes a 5-way tie after Princey's number 1 spot. It includes the following:
Björk The Cure Eurythmics Janet Jackson Madonna Feel free to join in the Prince Album Poll 2018! Let'a celebrate his legacy by counting down the most beloved Prince albums, as decided by you!

The Fall
The Beatles Bob Dylan The Stones Wire I had to really think about #5...the first four are pretty much written in stone for me, but there are five or six solid contendors for the fifth spot. Can, Pet Shop Boys, The Feelies, Venetian Snares or Rodney Crowell all could nick that slot depending on my mood.

That rating would basically be based solely on my past fandom. As much as I still love his peak era, I very rarely listen to his music anymore, and I have to take that into account. I seem to recall you did a 'top 100 artists' thread a year or so back. I think I'm going to try and dig that up...I'm quite curious to see where I would have rated Prince. I'm terrible at it. It usually takes Ian to break it down for me tournament style. Music and math just don't mix in my brain.

Tough one, but I'll give it a go (in no particular order)...
1. Joni Mitchell 2. Beatles 3. Dead Can Dance 4. Meshell Ndegeocello 5. Vanessa Daou or Bjork [Edited 12/19/06 22:55pm] Ὅσον ζῇς φαίνου
