The Who are Beating the Bootleggers with Live CD's of EVERY show for their North American 2002 Tour!

So everyshow in the North American 2002 Tour will be made available for purchase as a 2 CD, Double CD...SOUNDBOARD recordings set!

Calling it "The Who: Encore Series (then the date and location of the show on the album)"

They do this because they know that the shows will be bootlegged! So again, they are putting out every show they do THIS year on CD!

I recently went to a Who concert at The Greek Theater, read a review I did of a recent Los Angeles show at: http://www.prince.org/msg...&tid=22790

After the show, on the big screens, they announced a website where you can order and pre-order a CD of the show! WOW! All proceeds go to youth charities chosen by The Who! How cool is that I thought!

SO basically, you can get the LIVE SHOW you just witnessed just a few weeks later!

"The band is aware that many of the shows on this tour will be sold as bootleg recordings and to satisfy this demand they have agreed to release their own official recordings to benefit worthy causes.

Recorded and mixed live from the sound board, these CDs are as close as you will get, and as quick as you will get, to reliving the experience. By this process you will be provided with a good recording at a reasonable price just as soon as we can make them.

Whether it is because you enjoyed the show you attended so much, or whether you could not make a particular venue but want to enjoy it anyway, you will be interested in this Encore series of CDs.

Now, I thought, if The Who can do this, why can't Prince do this as well???

I know that the upcoming One Night Alone...Live series is an attempt at beating the bootlegs in a way but, The Who are putting out a CD set for EVERY SHOW!

What a treat! If Prince, were to do the same thing he would effectively beat the bootleggers. Plus, he would sell more CD's and really push the potential of what the NPG Music Club concept is.

I've read and heard a lot of complaints from fans about Prince holding back and not putting out stufff he promised or all these live shows, studio albums in his vault.

I just thought how great, really, if Prince would offer the same kind of thing for his fans. I certainly don't want to give the bootleggers the money and I want to hear every show...because we love his music and performances. It would be a completist, collectors dream! I rather give the money to the creator of the music and even better when most or all or even part of the proceeds go to charities.

I think Pearl Jam recently did sometyhing like this too.I think it's a great idea.If Prince did this,how many of you would every single CD?

I doubt I would buy every one if hes doing basically the same show at each stop. One show would be enough - there would have to be something special to make me buy more than one or two.

Why because yes, I'm a bigger fan of Prince than The Who...just like I'm sure hardcore fans of The Who would get every release!
