I know her voice...she appears in RW's Rudebox album. It's a great album. Maybe his best by far!

I don't have the cd here, but I think she sings background vox in these songs:

Bongo Bongo (Je t'aime plus part...)

These are the only ones I have. They are pretty good. I like the 'Ys' album the most of those four.

raconteurs was a pleasant album and they were enjoyable live. nothing to get worked up over, but it's nice rock music. i wouldn't say it was list-topping stuff. shrug

I'm sampling some of these listings on iTunes, and to use Jack Black's term, it sounds like the same "sad bastard" music. Some of these folks need to find the groove. Dag.

I put the Thom Yorke album on my list, nice groovy sounds, that album has. But you're telling me Van Hunt's joint is not as nice as at least half the albums on this list?

And no Gnarls Barkley? No Beck?

What do people think of Lupe Fiasco? Should his album be considered one of the best of 2006?

MOJO is notoriously deaf to black music that isn't made by guys named Jimi.

Sometimes the pop music media contributes to the dumbing down of black music by acknowledging only handful of hip-hop artists, and ignoring black musicians. There's no way a Van Hunt or other standout soul artists should have been ignored in 2006.

Every magazine has it's angle, and I wouldn't expect The Raconteurs would figure very high on Vibe's lists, either. Q rates English groups higher. NME likes newer music.

s'just a stupid magazine.
