He's with a great label (Lost Highway) that lets you do whatever you want, Ryan has not been a sell out at any point, he almost was a "Commercial" success with GOLD, but his output is a turn off to the MTV/TRL crowd, especially when you mix it up, they cant handle diversity. To me Ryan reminds me of a Mellencamp type, he is a tough person to "like", i have heard he's very ego driven, hardly ever talks to the press and when he does he is very cynical about everything, but in my book one of the best of this generation.
