"Trapped" by Bruce Springsteen - Love This Song!!!! Anybody remember this song by Bruce Springsteen? I believe it was recorded for the "USA For Africa: We Are The World" CD. Been listening to this song a lot lately, and forgot how much I love it (and I'm not even a Bruce Springsteen fan, per se, but this is a great song!).
Bruce Springsteen Trapped Well it seems like I'm caught up in your trap again And it seems like I'll be wearin' the same ol' chains Good will conquer evil and the truth will set you free And I know someday I'll find the key Then I know somewhere I will find the key Well it seems like I've been playin' the game way too long And it seems the game I played has made you strong Well when the game is over, I won't walk out the loser And I know that I'll walk out of here again And I know someday I'll walk out of here again But now I'm trapped! Ooh yeah! Trapped! Ooh yeah yeah! Trapped! Ooh yeah! Trapped! Ooh yeahhh! Now it seems like I've been sleepin' in your bed too long And it seems like you've been meanin' to do me harm But I'll teach my eyes to see beyond these walls in front of me And someday I'll walk out of here again Yeah I know someday I'll walk out of here again But now I'm trapped! Ooh yeah! Trapped! Ooh yeah yeah! Trapped! Ooh yeah! Trapped! Ooh yeahhh! Now it seems like I've been playin' your game way too long And it seems the game I played has made you strong Because I'm trapped! Ooh yeah! Trapped! Ooh yeah yeah! Trapped! Ooh yeah! Trapped! Ooh yeahhh! I'm trapped! Ooh yeah! Trapped! Ooh yeahhh! Trapped! Ooh yeah! Trapped! Ooh yeahhh! I'm trapped RIP, mom. I will forever miss and love you.

Ooh yeahhh! I'm trapped! Ooh yeah! Trapped! Ooh yeahhh! Trapped! Ooh yeah! Trapped! Ooh yeahhh! I'm trapped Yes, I do. First performed on the 1981 leg of The River tour, I believe. Then occasionally on the Born In The USA tour, and irregularly ever since. Oh, and it's written by Jimmy Cliff, not Bruce. And Jimmy Cliff's Vietnam was a huge influence on Born In The USA (the song). If you follow BITUSA's evolution from acoustic demo upwards, you'll hear the link. There are three sides to every story. My side, your side, and the truth. And no one is lying. Memories shared serve each one differently

This and 4 The Tears..... were the two best songs on the USA FOR AFRICA cd.
Great dynamics. "The first time I saw the cover of Dirty Mind in the early 80s I thought, 'Is this some drag queen ripping on Freddie Prinze?'" - Some guy on The Gear Page

I've never heard Jimmy's version. Is it a reggae?

Was not recorded for WATW per se (it was a live recording), but that was its first release. Has since been included on the bonus disc of The Essential Bruce Springsteen. Ironically, in the liner notes of the latter, he dates the recording as being from the River tour. But his wife's voice is clearly heard on the track and she didn't join the band until three years later.
