This a great example of what a greatest hits cd should be.
U2 did this same basic deal with their first greatest hits - 1 disc hits - 1 disc b-sides. Just the other day I played the b-side disc for someone who had never heard any of the songs. He freaked. As someone who seeks out b-sides it is always fun to play them for someone who knows nothing about them.

I too am excited for this release but there are several things that I think are a bit "off" with this one. Their first set of hits 80-90 were very tight on both discs. Everything that should've been there was for the most part. I can't help but notice several vital tracks missing from this collection.
On the hits disc- I saw the tracklist for this today and it did not include "The Fly". I hope that it's on there cuz it needs to be. Classic songs such as "Who's Gonna Ride Your Wild Horses", "Lemon", "Please", "Mofo", "The Ground Beneath Her Feet", "Night and Day", "Walk On", and "Elevation" aren't there. Instead they include a few lesser known album tracks such as "Until the End of the World" and "The First Time". Both of these are great tracks but it's hard to understand their inclusion in favor of some of the ones listed above. And the b-sides disc is even more whack. I love remixes and all but this is nowhere as complete as the set that came out for their first hits. Some of the remixes included are cool since the songs aren't on the first disc, i.e. "If God Would Send His Angels", "Lemon", etc. I made a b-sides disc myself not too long ago. Here's my tracklist and what this cd should've been like. Night and Day Lady With the Spinning Head Alex descends into Hell for a Bottle of Milk/ Korova 1 Paint it Black Fortunate Son Satellite of Love Salome' Where Did it All Go Wrong Hold Me, Thrill Me, Kiss Me, Kill Me Holy Joe Pop Muzik Happiness is a Warm Gun North and South of the River Slow Dancing Two Shots of Happy, One Shot of Sad Big Girls are Best Summer Rain Always I just think that their 80's hits disc was much more balanced which kindof sucks cuz I think they only got better this past decade. Too bad casual fans who pick this up will only see a jumbled, fucked up version of what this band is all about. Ah well, these kinds of releases aren't for completists like me anyway. I'm still gonna buy it though.

Yeah, they should have put "Alex descends into Hell for a Bottle of Milk/ Korova 1" That was a great instrumental!
The Fly is still one super duper kick ass mofo of a song and performance! I love the solo, the way Bono as The Fly is just whispering the lyrics over a heavy beat..."Chiiilde". I remember getting the cassingle and just completely getting absorbed by the art work, Bono's Fly photo with that devilish smile and slicked hair. It was all like ahead of it's time in a way, CyberPunk, leather, TV...love that period!

Prince should release a 1990 to 2000 "Best" Of as well. Not to say that I would buy it.

There's absolutely no point to this. . "You don't frighten us, English pig dogs. Go and boil your bottoms, sons of a silly person."

At least Salome is on there. It is one of my favorite U2 songs.

Really - well I guess that shows how much I listen to that cd. I didn't pick up on U2 until Achtung Baby so I mess up the time line on music that precedes that.
