Anyone heard Chuck D's "Ali Rap"? I really like it. Reminds me of the good ole days before bling became king.

I don't even bother discussing Chuck on this site. It would be like trying to discuss conflict diamonds at a jeweler's convention. Like all of Chuck's songs, its poignant and on point. Chuck is in my opinion, the best rapper the industry has seen.

That's kind of a putdown to us orgers who do respect Chuck D's accomplishments - there are some of us who are informed My author page: https://www.amazon.com/au...eretttruth

Jesse, now you know I know there are informed ones on the org but you know just as well as I do what happens on here. A Chuck D thread starts. A few posts about how great of a rapper Chuck is follow...then someone says "Flav is my favorite"....then a side conversation about Flav and the Flavor of Love starts. More join in. All of a sudden its a different post and the initial posters have left the thread.
All I'm saying is some sites are better suited for discussing certain artists. Its not a diss to all orgers but I'm not gonna bullshit ya; we've been here before. Certain artists don't usually go over well as topics.

Yeah, I peep'd it on ESPN
Celebrating the 25th anniversary of his last pro fight, and Ali's 65th B-Day. It airs tonight on ESPN. I wonder if Shocklee Ridenhour Sadler touched this.

Certain artists don't usually go over well as topics. I just like the song is all. Reminded me that I don't hate rap, as a rule, but that there's precious little of it worth listeneing to any more. In many ways, it made me feel old - nostalgic not only for People Who Make a Difference, like Ali, but for a time when rap actually had something to say. It's like discovering the square root of old. The other day, I heard a rookie football player being interviewed who had never even heard of "Purple Rain" or The Time and I felt the same way... But... No question, Chuck is the best rapper of all time. A voice that's impossible to ignore no matter what he's saying. I sometimes think the guy could rap a Dr. Seuss book or an oatmeal cookie recipe and make it sound like the hip hop equivalent of "I Have a Dream". A perfect choice for an Ali homage, IMOHO, and a pretty cool song.
