CHICK COREA : Checkpoint

I'll start...

"TOUCHSTONE" featuring Lenny, Stanley & Al Di was one of my favs !
And, Carlos Benavent ?!?!? That solo on the title trk. should be taught in schools "k thru 12" and on to college grad schools as well.
"Estancia" is when Pitch-Bending meets Spanish culture 101 !!

What say youse guys ?

I like his feel on "Estancia"....

Funny...My wife and I were with my brother at a movie theater here in DC a couple of years ago...it was a weeknight, so there weren't many people there. Anyway, we're heading to the concession stand, I look up, and there's Chick Corea in the popcorn line, eek lol !!! I was floored! I finally went over and talked to him. Turns out he was in town playing a date at Blues Alley later in the week, so he and the band were just chillin' at the movies!!

Just not usually the place you expect to run into music legends, at least not around here...unlike in LA, where apparently tA can't even stretch without bumping into celebrities, lol ....

Was he really coolto talk to ? Damn, I sound like a "Bobby-soxer" asking about

Electric Band is just barely scratching the surface.... From his beginings with Miles to now, you have over 30 years of material to discover and enjoy!

You're right. but, after listening to the Elektric Band stuff again
it kinda reminds me of why I like Chick BEFORE that stuff.

For straight acoustic piano playing, the push they give each other...

...makes this one a worthwhile listen.

I'm also a big fan of the Corea/Clarke/White/DiMeola version of...

...Return To Forever.
