Well another year another Grammy's...
I'm stoked about P getting 5 noms... I'm most excited for Corrine Bailey Rae who is in 3 of the 4 Top catagories...that was my favorite album this year...Im really surprised Dylan got dissed for Album of the Year...Grammy's usually give him that one when he comes out with a new album. Every minute of last night is on my face today....

If Rascal Flatts wins one,They should do away with the Grammys for good. I can't stand themMary J Blige, James Blunt, Chris Brown, Josh Groban, Amy Lee from Evanescence, Ludacris, Corinne Bailey Rae, Rascal Flatts, Justin Timberlake, and KT Tunstall are scheduled to announce the nominations....which means all of them are getting at least one.

Yeah, U're damn right...I'm surprised that I still bother. I remember back in 97 or 98 (not sure) that the Celine Dion's album won best album of the year over Radiohead's "OK Computer"...that day I thought "Fuck grammy, it doesn't have any credibility!"

Well alot of what the industry writers were predicting came true, though none of them mentioned May J so heavily, nor Prince. The Grammies to me, want to pretend like they are "down" with new talent and know it all, so they nominate Gnarls Barkley and Corrin Bailey and in the past Norah Jones but they need to take it a step further, nominate someone like Van Hunt, dont just jump on the new artist that everyone knows and then claim to be in touch. Hate to say it but i dont think Prince is gonna win any of what he is up for, though i think a performance and a victory will get the album going a little especially if he plans to tour next year, since i doubt he will have a new record in 2007. Also the fact that the FEMALE ROCK category has been eliminated is just not right, it was removed a few years ago, but i mean if the industry was in touch, Joan Jett had a great record, Nikka Costa had one, Pink easily could fall into rock as could Jewel on certain days. Shocking was Lionel Richie, probably one of the most disappointing albums for me this year, i just thought it was so "plastic" and "produced", not that thats a reason not to nominate, but he clearly has done lots better. Nice to see the PetShopBoys in mix for a couple now if the label or someone can push their record instead of a nomination. The Justin Timberlake nomination in dance was a total joke and Im sure he will win, how is that considered dance music, when all of these great club artists are around, timberlake gets a nod for dance track, lame. But of course im glad for PCD and a nomination though i wished they would have gotten a nod for POP ALBUM since they landed 5 singles in the top 20, cant be more POP than that, but im guessing one of those a-Ha ripoff bands (Keane, theFRray) will win it. I dont really think there will be a big winner, mainly because almost NONE of the awards are given out on the show, i have heard they are planning at least 22 performances, (what is it Live Aid?) so im guessing about 8-10 awards on the show maybe a dozen, and the Grammy's will split it up so we dont have to hear all the "thank God" speeches. I've seen the video! Hooray for Princey! I hope "3121" (the song) wins- best song of the year. I think Yeah Yeah Yeahs got hosed. Goldfrapp too, even though I'm rooting for Madonna. And nothing for the Strokes? Worse are the noms for "My Humps" and "Ring the Alarm". And it's quite funny that now that the political zeitgeist has turned against Bush (finally!), the Dixie Chicks get all these noms for such a shit song. vainandy said: No need for me to bitch and moan about the nominations. For years now, 99% of the ones nominated have been bullshit artists so that's all I expect to be nominated from now on. Nowadays, I feel the opposite about who should be nominated. These days I get pissed when I see someone that I do like get nominated because it means they may possibly sellout on their next album. And considering the competition these days, winning an award, or even being nominated for one, is actually an insult.
vainady, I posted this here somewhere else, but I should've posted it here, so here it is anyway..... Well, when I was a kid back in the '80s the grammys and AMA's where the shit, but I was never satisfied with how many Prince got. Now that I'm older I realize it's the sell outs that get more awards. So, I see it as a blessing that Prince doesn't have tons of Grammys because they would be less meaningful. Let's be real, music has gone to shit and they're handing out grammys, etc., to any talentless act with good producers who know what's "cool" nowadays. Creativity and musicianship is GONE, but only a handful of artists remember this and try to be more original. Artists like India Arie, Maxwell, Brian McKnight, Alicia Keys, etc. have kept true soul lovers like us interested. I TOTALLY understand how you feel about this man...
