And I think Nirvana would've adapted. They were already branching out by the time of Unplugged.

They might not have been as huge (and they already weren't by the time he died), but they would've probably had a respectable following a la Pearl Jam.

I think the reason Joy Division wasn't huger was that they didn't have a chance to break America. They were supposed to come here for their first tour like the day after Ian killed himself. The timing was just off. Nirvana was around a long time before they made it too.
