Henry Rollins-Major AHOLE I don't know how many might be offended by my statement but its defianetley not my intention to offend anyone who might be a fan of his but I just have to say he seems like one major ahole, especially when he decides to open his mouth to trash whatever artist he feels like on that day. Since when is this guy an authority on every music artist that he can state whether their musically worthy or not as if his opinion is absolute fact? The guy is just arrogant and has some serious issues with bashing anyone he who doesnt fit into whatever he thinks is 'real' music.
I also saw him performing on 'Saturday Night Live' a few years ago and all he was doing was performing shirtless so he could show off all of his big muscles and tats and barefoot and screaming into the mike(oh hes such a badass performer isnt he?). Sorry but not my OPINION as to what talent is but of course unlike Henry I could be wrong. Once again I dont mean to offend anyone who is a big fan of Rollins but the guy to me is just the definition of an arrogant ASSHOLE!

No offence caused here. I've been a Rollins fan since Black Flag, but I understand he's something of an acquired taste.
His career is split between music (or "screaming and flashing his tats" if you prefer), and spoken word/stand-up shows. His musical talents are somewhat limited and only really come to the fore when he's backed by the right musicians. With the latter he can be very very funny and occasionally incisive. As for his being an asshole - I have it on good authority, from a couple of people who've met him socially, that he pretty much defines the word. That said, I admire Rollins' resolutely independent approach - he publishes his own books and releases his own CDs, via his website 21361.com. Mind you, the books are really crap. no offence taken, you're perfectly entitled to feel that way...
I'm a huge Henry fan, though, ever since I saw a spoken word tour years ago now in Sydney - he was HILARIOUS I'd never heard of him before heard of Black Flag but hadn't heard any music... he blew me away he's fantastic live. not a huge fan of Black Flag, still, but definately am a big fan of Henry himself

Rollins's best albums are "Weight" (features his one chart hit - "Liar") and "The End of Silence". The ones before are worth checking out too, but only if you actually find yourself loving the sound of a big angry guy yelling at you about how he hates himself. Oh, and there's a rare live album from the "End of Silence" tour called "Electro-Convulsive Therapy", which is superb. Of the spoken word albums, my favourite is The Boxed Life (some of it recorded in Oz). Very VERY funny. I always see him whenever he comes to London. There are three sides to every story. My side, your side, and the truth. And no one is lying. Memories shared serve each one differently

he reeks of jerkness, but i can't help but be in favor of him. i think he's motivated a bunch of kids to go beyond listening to loud crunchy music and pick up a book or start writing out their thoughts. can't fault that. i really like the way henry rollins has formed his career. whether i like the guy as a person or not, i don't know. never met the guy. stood behind him at an ATM once. he's a short little thing.

You think youre gonna to live your life alone
In darkness And seclusion Yeah I know Youve been out there Tried to mix with those animals And it just left you full of humiliated confusion So you stagger back home And wait for nothing But the solitary refinement of your room spits you back out onto the street And now youre desperate And in need of human contact And then You meet me And you whole world changes Because everything I say is everything youve ever wanted to hear So you drop all your defenses and you drop all your fears And you trust me completely Im perfect In every way Cause I make you feel so strong and so powerful inside You feel so lucky But your ego obscures reality And you never bother to wonder why Things are going so well You wanna know why? Cause Im a liar Yeah Im a liar Ill tear your mind out Ill burn your soul Ill turn you into me Ill turn you into me Cause Im a liar, a liar A liar, a liar Ill hide behind a smile And understanding eyes And Ill tell you things that you already know So you can say I really identify with you, so much And all the time that youre needing me Is just the time that Im bleeding you Dont you get it yet? Ill come to you like an affliction And Ill leave you like an addiction Youll never forget me You wanna know why? Cause Im a liar Yeah Im a liar Ill rip your mind out Ill burn your soul Ill turn you into me Ill turn you into me Cause Im a liar, a liar Liar, liar, liar, liar I dont know why I feel the need to lie And cause you so much pain Maybe its something inside Maybe its something I cant explain Cause all I do Is mess you up and lie to you Im a liar Oh, I am a liar If youll give me one more chance I swear that I will never lie to you again Because now I see the destructive power of a lie Theyre stronger than truth I cant believe I ever hurt you I swear I will never to you lie again, please Just give me one more chance I will never lie to you again I swear That I will never tell a lie I will never tell a lie No, no Ha ha ha ha ha hah haa haa haa haaa Sucker Sucker! Oh, sucker I am a liar Yeah, I am a liar Yeah I like it I feel good Ohh I am a liar Yeah I lie I lie I lie Oh, I lie Oh I lie I lie Yeah Ohhh Im a liar I lie Yeah I like it I feel good Ill lie again And again Ill lie again and again And Ill keep lying I promise "I saw a woman with major Hammer pants on the subway a few weeks ago and totally thought of you." - sextonseven

Are you sure it was him? He's got the Black Flag barcode tattooed on the back of his neck and a mole on the side - or is it a tattoo of a mole? 5 ft 4 sounds a tad small. Unless he was in platforms when I saw him. Glam Henry! People do shrink as they get older. I was 6 ft 4 last week. [Edited 12/5/06 6:57am] There are three sides to every story.
