Wow...Not one album hit the 5 million mark...hell not even the 4 million...very interesting...

Carrie Underwood is unstoppable...they're barely on the 3rd single on that one...it will be around til next year...this one will clear 5 mil...

11 THE EMANCIPATION OF MIMI MARIAH CAREY 1,968,531

Mariah shifted another 2million copies of that album this year? 2mill and no single this year.

These are for the Billboard year that runs from November to November, which is why 'Confessions on a Dancefloor' and 'Emancipation of Mimi' make the list.

OMG, most of those ablums in the top ten are from last year! The record industry took a huge fucking hit!

I'm a little confused by the whole list....If Madonan sold 1.5 in 2006, who many did she sell in 2005? Sounds like they counted starting in Nov of 05!

I don't like any of those. I bought the Madonna album and was disappointed with it also.....too acid, techno, trance, or whatever the hell it's called these days. I was expecting some funky house stuff like "Thief Of Hearts".

Well . . . because of

J Dilla -- The Shining

Marc Cary -- Focus

Beck -- The Information

Corrine Bailey Rae -- Corrine Bailey Rae

Me'Shell Ndegeocello -- Article III (EP)

Clara Hill -- All I Can Provide

Van Hunt -- On The Jungle Floor

Madlib -- Beat Kondukta, Vols. 1 and 2

The Roots -- Game Theory

Gnarls Barkley -- St. Elsewhere

Donald Fagen -- Morph The Cat

Can't agree with you completely. And there are a lotta others I didn't get to!

Now, the music on the best-seller lists? We can talk.

Stadium Arcadium (RHCP)
Hypnotize (S.O.A.D)
St. Elsewhere (Gnarls Barkley)

Overall I think '06 was good in terms of music. Im not suprised that this sals chart does not reflect that.

Outside of a possible Andrea Bocelli (not sure which one is back in the lab), I can safely say that I don't have a single one.

Its pretty much all about timing of release. Madonna and Carrie amoung others get the benefit of the Nov-Nov chart year. While Timberlake sells 1.6 million copies since Sept ( 3 months ) and will out sell everyone probably on this list . But probably not crack the Top 10 in any one chart year.

Pretty amazing only 9 albums sold more than 2 million.

I've got RHCP and GB.

I thought this year was damn good for music.

Thom Yorke -- The Eraser
Prince -- 3121
Muse -- Black Holes and Revelations
RHCP -- Stadium Arcadium
GB -- St. Elsewhere

That's not a bad year at all. And 2007 will have the new Radiohead album, which will most likely be mind blowing.
