Well i know alot of people dislike her for whatever reasons, but they are very few people that do actually have "longevity" in this business, and i really think the numbers will be shrinking more and more as the years go on, and the media increases. Mariah is one of the artists to me, that i always feel can do more, i still feel Mariahs best work is ahead of her, every artist that is going to stay around has their ups and downs, good and bad times, i mean the list of artists we could name that fall into this category is endless, but thats what careers and life is about.

Heres a little comparison of Mariah from 1990 and in 2006






The biggest thing i think that bothers me about people and their view of Mariah is the "Weight" issue. Ok heres the deal in the Photo from 1990 Mariah was 20 years old and she weighed about 110 pounds if she was lucky, I remember meeting Mariah back in 1991 when she was 21, people dont realize how tall Mariah is, she is 5'9 and with those heels she can reach to 6+ feet, and for that height 110 pounds is way underweight, but hey she was 20 years old. Guess what, when you get older you get heavier, also Mariah has made some "good coin" so she can enjoy fancy meals whenever, and she doesnt deny she likes to eat, which apparently is a crime in todays world. So looking at Mariah in 2006, i see a really confident HOT woman, maybe older, and a little heavier (thank god), but thats what growing up is all about.

I've been a fan since day one. I prefer her earlier work, but I am still a fan.

To me, it's about the voice and the music. I do wish she would dress a little more like a 36 year old woman though(She'll be 37 in March).

I am looking forward to her next CD in 2007.

But thats the thing, Mariah dresses a whole lot of ways, and since day one i can remember Arsenio commenting on her short outfits, thats just a part of who she is. It would be like if PRINCE all of sudden wore jeans and flannel shirts instead of his usual outfits that make him Prince, his outfits dont limit his talent either, but i do feel because Mariah is a women, her wardrobe is always an issue simply because of the double standard of media. It uses sex to sell, but if some woman dresses sexy then she is "cheap or a slut".

I have zero problem with Mariah's weight, it's the whole sex sells thing society buys into. There are way more talented people out therewho will never get a shot because they don't look like that.

So she's not as thin as she was when she was barely out of her teens. Big deal, she's human! I think she looks healthier and more womanly with a little weight on her anyway.

i was only a fan of her first record. i think it was one f the best debuts of the 90's . after that she stopped growing and being geniuine, went for a certain audience and lost her way, imo. and yes i gran you that she has worked with great producers but hiding behind them hardly make for creative grow,imo.

she should stick to solid material and keep her clothes on.

I love the early Mariah.

I have no problem with Mariah's weight at all. She looks just fine to me. What I dislike about her is how she flaunts herself in every video and always acts like such a stupid bimbo. I hate her fake tits too. Once she gots those new puppies, she seemed to lose some of her intelligence too. She's just way too much of a diva for my liking and her music just doesn't interest me much.

Some of you guys have very Eurocentric views on beauty.

She could dress as flashy as she wants as long as she is making great music at the end of the day that some people enjoy (some of them SECRETLY) and some even get inspired by, which is what's supposed to matter the most in a musician

She is a geniun artist with an excellent songwriting skills (whether it's fun or deep stuff), and an amazing sense of melodies (by the testimony of music vets such as Dionne Warwick)

For me, it has nothing to do with weight. There are women that weigh more than Mariah that look better in their clothes because they wear outfits that are flattering to their body shape. She can't wear the same kind of body clinging outfits that someone like Beyonce wears and expect to look good in it because they are shaped/built differently. She has broad shoulder, no ass, no hips and an undefined waist line, which means she needs to get a waredrobe that accentuates her positives and not draw you to her negatives.

I don't like the way she flaunts her self nowadays. Even in her videos it's like she is constantly posing. Having said that, I've always felt she has got a great voice and although I have always enjoyed her old material, I am impress with "Mimi". I like the way she has rose from the ashes with that album, especially after she had be written off.

She's hot as hell, but I've never been a fan of her music. I can't take that oversinging. She goes out of her way to show she can hit certain notes. No one ever told her that "less is more".

There was a thread months ago where people didn't believe her tits are fake. I dug up some pics & what was interesting was that in her pre-boob job days she was constantly covering up her chest w/ something, anything... her hands, a scarf, posing turned away from the camera... NOW she acts like her tits are the second coming It's very strange, the way an insecurity manifests.

That said, thank God she gained some weight b/c she was a bone before. Still it's pretty pathetic to watch her prance around w/ that dumbass smile & her body constantly on display when she's really pretty average She revels in her physical appearance but if she didn't have that voice nobody would give a flying shit about her. She needs to sing some songs worth hearing already & quit pretending she's frickin' Marilyn Monroe - use that forever busted face for some good (singing!) instead of grinning about her purchased tits, flat ass & shitty records...
