Grammy Nominees announced Thursday Morning 12/7....Heres what some writers are saying so far Well its that time already, the Grammy nominees are announced this Thursday morning 12/7, the show will air Early February i believe. The Grammy voting period for eligible music is for releases during 10/1/2005-9/30/06. Just caught some articles with music critics and heres what and who they think will be in those top nominations (remember these arent my choices, though i think some of them will be also)
Some of the favorites to be nominated in the Best New Artist category James Blunt, corrine bailey, gnarls barkley, the fray,kt tunstall Some of the favorites for Album of the year Bob Dylan,Christina Aguilera,Shakira,James Blunt,Justin Timberlake,Chili Peppers Some of the favorites for Song and Record of the year Christina Aguilera,Shakira,James Blunt,Gnarls Barkley,Justin Timberlake Now for my input and some things i think will be nominated Madonna-def in the dance category and def should be in the Pop Female category Pussycat Dolls- another strong case for the Dance category, but should be in the Pop Group category and Pop Album category. They should be considered as Best New Artist but probably will be ineligible since they had a song on a soundtrack back in 2004, a rule that the Grammies has used sparingly in the past when it disqualified Whitney Houston,Richard Marx and Expose in that category but not Cyndi Lauper despite recording in Blue Angel Bon Jovi- Ok the time is up Grammies, these guys have had fewer than 3 nominations and zero victories, give it up. "Who says you cant go Home" was their biggest radio hit in a long time, topped the country charts?, and they just got inducted into the UK hall of fame and are eligible for the RR Hall of Fame in 2008. (Lets not waste nominations on HINDER and NICKELBACK for gods sake) Some other things i think will be strong contenders in categories, JOhn Mayer,Beck,Bruce Springsteen Some of my picks i would like to see: Cheap Trick,Lindsey Buckingham,Joan Jett,Elton John "We went where our music was appreciated, and that was everywhere but the USA, we knew we had fans, but there is only so much of the world you can play at once" Magne F

Worst. Grammys. EVER. if he sweeps the grammys next year, mark my word, he will be the world's most hated man. he's already in the top five, i think.

I hope Elton gets nominated. I liked his album better than Dylan's.

He's from England and he's the guy who sing the song "You're Beautiful" I hope he isn't nominated for Album of the Year. Hell no. I'm not a fan of "old Prince". I'm not a fan of "new Prince". I'm just a fan of Prince. Simple as that

James Blunt is a predictable choice for a grammy sweep. Just like Norah Jones. Let's just hope he isn't able to succeed in the future.

Hey we forgot Prince, he should be nominated too.

Well like i said those are what the insiders are saying are heavy faves to be nominated. I personally cant stand James Blunt, hes just annoying and very overrated for what he does. He probably will get nominated but he could be this years India Arie and Billy Joel where he gets 5 or 6 nominations and wins nothing. Im still pushing for PCD to be in that Best New artist category though i know they wont be, the grammy rule is dumb. If you think about how they disqualified the others i spoke of.
Whitney Houston for her Duet with Teddy Pendergrass that appeared on his album Richard Marx for a song he did on the "Nothing in Common" soundtrack Expose were disqualified for the inclusion of "Exposed to Love" on a 12"mix "We went where our music was appreciated, and that was everywhere but the USA, we knew we had fans, but there is only so much of the world you can play at once" Magne F

True havent even thought of the Rb category yet, i wouldnt be surprised to see him up for RB album and Rb male, possibly even RB song, u never know with the grammies, they like Prince now. And a performance on the show would be a great way to kick off a tour "We went where our music was appreciated, and that was everywhere but the USA, we knew we had fans, but there is only so much of the world you can play at once" Magne F

How do y'all think Madge's COADF will shape up at the Grammies? She's practically had a lock on the dance charts, so Im more than sure she'll be nominated there. But what about the pop categories? I thought COADF was her most consistantly good album since Ray of Light, so it does deserve some recognition.
O yea, Bon Jovi DEFINITELY deserve a nomination. There last single "Who Says You Cant Go Home" was a pretty big radio hit. Maybe not like "Its My Life", but it still did well. I doubt James Blunt will win Album of the Year, if he's even nominated. Bob Dylan and Elton John will more than likely get that category, and Justin Timberlake's album is a given for that category. Not so sure about Christinas though, but Im pretty sure it'll receive a couple of nominations I hope Nelly Furtado's album gets recognized. That shit was hot.

The one who beat out Boyz II Men and was never heard from again until some reports came out that he had married Elizabeth Vargas of ABC News. Actually, a couple of years ago he was robbed at gunpoint and shot in the face, but he miraculously survived the incident. Then he and Ms. Vargas had a baby.

I'm going to add Paul Simon to my nominee list. The grammies are very strange though, they tend to put albums from artists like Paul Simon,Dylan,Elton,Brian Wilson in the best Pop Album category, and then nominate POP albums for album of the year, case in point , Brian Wilsons "Smile" was the winner for Best Pop Album? I think Springsteen will get a nod for his work, but i dont think it would be fair to nominate his album for the Album of the year since it was a covers record, but i do think it will score in the Rock and Folk categories as will Dylan. As bad as u think the grammies are at least they dont let people vote, take the AMA show, how can they have NICKELBACK,the Chili Peppers, and PCD up against each other for POP/ROCK group? And also the AMA show actually had an award for best RINGTONE!!!! u wanna know why artists suck, because they are producing music for people to use as Ringtones. Honestly i think Madonna should be nominated in the Pop female categories, Pop Album and Dance Performance without any question. Of course we cant forget Beyonce who im sure will be nominated all over just because she is Beyonce. As for BONJOVI, being a fan since day one its time to give this band the cred it deserves, 120 million albums sold, popular in every country in the world, theyve had number one singles on every chart except the dance chart, and yet they are still considered part of the "warrant and poison" gang. Jovi has never won, they have had a few nominations in the last couple of years but have always lost, its time, and i swear if i see HINDER or NICKELBACK nominated in the Rock category and not Jovi, i might have head to LA and talk with the Grammy people.
