Today's CELEBS- Paris and Britney-Where's the TALENT?

I grew up when celebrities were either actors or musicians. Sure I didnt like all the celebrities, but at least most of them had talent or at least some potential. Our culture keeps getting worse. Paris Hilton and Anna Nichol wont go away and now Britney is back with probably another crappy lip syncing cd.

I just read an article about Gwen Stefani, calling her one of the last rock stars because she played the clubs for 10 years before she finally made it. I think that might be a good point.

Kids these days. its a damn shame they dont appreciate or care about talent! mad

I agree...brittany, paris and all of these idiots need to just go away. They have no talent besides wearing half dresses and dancing on tables.
Let's go down 2 the holy river,
If we drown then we'll be delivered.
If we don't then we'll never see the light.
If U die before U try,
U'll have 2 come back and face the light.
When U believe it, U got a good reason 2 cry.

Well we are living in the reality-TV generation where people become celebrities for nothing other than being on television. I saw a show on the other day where they identified some chick as a "MySpace star." eek WTF is that???

It's like Chris Rock said at the Oscars, back in the day stars were stars. These folks nowadays either have no talent or are minimally talented at best. Yet they are shoved down our throats as we are force-fed the myth that they are important or that we should care about their every move.

It's really sad. I just can't remember a time where so many nontalents wasted media space.

Agreed. I don't care about how much Paris Hilton spends on her dog, or who she's sleeping with this week. And I don't care about more details from Britney's divorce from Kevin Freeloader and how she lost her pregnancy weight. Why is it that the news always opens up with that crap, Rather then the war in Iraq? It's sad.

Hey hey it's not all kids. There are still many kids (a lot on this site!) who know what real talent is. What we need is revolution of young people to say "fuck this society" and neglect all these non-talented half naked dumbasses and return the words "talent", "respectable" to the meaning of being a celebrity. Stand up organize!! smile
chill..prince doesnt like men being front row, makes it hard to sing the ballads

Nobody cares about talent anymore. Sad, but true. Just look at the proliferation of American Idol-type shows.

You know what? It's not the show itself that's the problem.
It's that fact that they aren't really looking for talented people.

They're looking for saleable people.

It's a glorified popularity/karaoke contest. The contestants sell out before they even have careers. sad

Are you classifying Dick Cavett as a useless celebrity or the kind of people who would appear on his show. I think Dick Cavett was a very smart guy and a good talk show host, I think that's certainly more credentials for being famous than the paris and britney types.

I'm not talking about a market for it. You were decrying the lack of talent and the route that some are taking to get a career (American Idol type shows). If you've actually ever seen it, you'd know that most of the people that make it to the show are more talented than most of the soap opera stars turned disco divas wink

Kylie has more talent and charisma than anyone associated with an Idol-type show.
