i think i'm in love... can i marry her? or maybe just haul her out here to play harp w/ my band. we couldn't afford her! i'm picking out "emily" on my mandolin.

oh, and did i say, i really like her VOICE? i think it's perfect for the type of songs she's doing on Ys.
it's naive. that's the word for it. it offsets the sophistication of the harp.

hmm tho, "cosmia" might be my favorite. it's the most bjorkish of all the tracks, and it has that crazy broadwayish quality about it that bjork brings to her stuff.
it's a BIG song, know what i mean?

I'm not expressing prejudice against anyone...it was a JOKE...I actually found that "lezzer" comment to be more of an "ignorant prejudice"... [Edited 11/24/06 11:01am]

I got the album yesterday, but haven't listened to it yet. It's strange to see Steve Albini's name attached to a recording like this.

Okay, I just listened to the 'Ys' album for the first time.
I might have to make an addition to my top 10 album list of 2006. It was already perfect as it was. Damn.

I have to listen to it a few more times just to make sure that initial appeal wasn't a fluke. 2006 isn't over yet so I can change my top 10 list.

I listened to 'Ys' again today. It definitely wasn't a fluke the first time. It's really, really good. It's like Kate Bush and Björk went to the Renaissance Faire and recorded an album afterward about their experience.

I think she's a better lyricist than either Kate or Bjork...she gets that it's all sort of silly and overplays that, so the indulgences are more bearable

That is funny--almost every other review raves about the album and RS which usually loves every piece of crap released says it sucks.
