There's no going back now for Gwen

I just saw the AMA performance of her new noise "Wind It Up". I have to say that she is really really really disappointing. I could tolerate a few songs on her last one, but it is now clear she left No Doubt simply so she could make atrocious noise and throw in some mentions of her clothing line. There is no artistry left in her. I thought she might return to No Doubt, but it is clear that will never happen - or at least things will never be the same.

She has really sullied her career and integrity to me. Id rather her go off and do gaelic music, polka or something. But to nix No Doubt to become a disposable pop queen?

I'm not sure this can be classified as "pop" or even "music", though. It has the following characteristics: i) no melody ii) no beat iii) no lyrics iv) grunts in place of vocals. In other words, a typical Neptunes production. But Gwen could record herself going to the shitter and it would still be a hit and unfortunately I think she knows it.

The other 3 band members are too happy producing/writing songs for other people right now. So I wouldn't hold my breath for a No Doubt reunion album/tour anytime soon.

It seems like a combination of the success of Fergie and Hollaback Girl inspired this dreadful mess. Gwen is just too into herself and success to give No Doubt a chance again. And if they did come back, could you really take them seriously anymore with the frontwoman being a complete sellout? The band should move on without Gwen and find another lead singer, not like they'd be successful but i just want to see Gwen's ego take a hit.

By the way, nice to see you back VC.

Surely to goodness my mashup of Gwen over MC Hammer gave you a different context to enjoy her.

I don't buy into the whole sell out thing. I love pop music, but Wind Up is just horrible noise to me with no craft or hook. Her first solo album had some decent songs like Cool. I think she rushed too quickly into releasing another album with left overs.
But I don't really see her as super egotistical and into herself, she seems pretty nice and down to earth to me compared to some other lead singers I could name. So I think there's a chance she would give No Doubt another chance.
As far as the other members, even though they're writing for other people, I'm sure they'd take the chance to be in the spotlight again with Gwen if she agreed to it.
No Doubt was never really what you call a credible alternative band anyway. So I don't really see why they would lose credibility if they got back together with Gwen. They were more on the pop commerical side of things.

I got sick of it after the first 40 seconds of this bullshyt song. If THIS is the first single from Gwen's new album, her solo career is over.

And I can't believe her record label are promoting this crap.

disbelief

Yeah, but they made good commercial pop music, which Gwen has turned her back on.

Oh my, that was absolutely horrid! I couldn't even finish watching it. Is this what pop "music" has been reduced to?

I downloaded the album leak.

I was dissappointed to say the least. Sounded like leftover material from LAMB or something.

Her last album and tour were fantastic. I don't dig the new stuff, though.

I'm with you on that. LAMB was an album that got better the more I played it but this new song is pure garbage. What was she thinking when she made this mess? It's Hollaback Girl gone apeshit. Terrible.
