David Bowie's best video, DJ

When he was subversive. ah, Prince, take notes.

Pretty obvious that Prince was influenced by this song.

I like the walking down the street parts. But some of the parts in the studio are kinda lame.

"Be My Wife" and "Life On Mars?" are probably my 2 faves.

i love how trashy and immediate the 'dj' video is. musically, for some reason, it reminds me a lot of what talking heads were doing at the time. i guess it's the funk factor, and the eno connection. some of bowie's vocals in that song sound a bit david byrne-ish to me, though.

'Ashes to Ashes' and 'I'm Afraid of Americans' are my 2 favorites by Bowie, but this one is up there too. I really like my Bowie deranged.

i love all the videos from lodger - 'dj', 'boys keep swinging' and 'look back in anger'. there's something so immediate and SHOCKING about all three videos - just the mood is so jarring in all three, and bowie looks so paranoid and alien in all of 'em...they're just the epitome of why i love the man.

yeah, it was cool. kind of a different era than the others being discussed, but he was getting back to a bit of the ol' shock value, even though the inspiration for that song/video was a suicide in his own family...
