Will do. Right now all I can think of that I really want to add for sure is Andy Pratt's "Avenging Annie" and I'm not even sure if that really qualifies. Aw, who am I kidding? It's going on no matter what. "A Watcher scoffs at gravity!"

Lots of T. Rex, Bowie, Sweet, Slade, Mott the Hoople, Roxy Music, etc. You can't go wrong with any of those. T. Rex's Get It On (Bang a Gong) to me, is the epitome of 70s glam rock actually.
This is actually a great glam rock site that someone put together that covers just about everything glam-related. They really break it down, and it seems to be lovingly put together by someone who really knows and loves the genre. http://hometown.aol.co.uk...index.html And sextonseven sent me this double CD a while back as well: 1. Killer Queen - Queen 2. Blockbuster - Sweet <---- This one's CLASSIC! 3. All The Young Dudes - Mott The Hoople <----- As is this one! 4. John I'm Only Dancing - David Bowie <---- Needs no introduction 5. Virginia Plain - Roxy Music 6. Passenger - Iggy Pop 7. Stay With Me - Small Faces 8. Children Of The Revolution - T-Rex 9. Elected - Cooper, Alice 10. Mama Weer All Crazee Now - Slade 11. This Town Ain't Big Enough For Both Of Us - Sparks 12. Let's Stick Together - Ferry, Bryan 13. Radar Love - Golden Earring 14. Man Who Sold The World - Lulu Pretty cool version 15. Judy Teen - Harley, Steve & Cockney Rebel 16. Perfect Day - Reed, Lou 17. 10538 Overture - ELO 18. Ball Park Incident - Wood, Roy & Wizzard 19. Rock On - Essex, David 20. Sebastian - Harley, Steve & Cockney Rebel 21. See My Baby Jive - Wood, Roy & Wizzard 22. All The Way From Memphis - Mott The Hoople 23. 20th Century Boy - T-Rex 24. Ballroom Blitz - Sweet 25. Tiger Feet - Mud Cheesy, but fun. 26. Devil Gate Drive - Quatro, Suzi 27. All Because Of You - Geordie 28. Gudbuy T'Jane - Slade 29. Personality Crisis - New York Dolls 30. Do The Strand - Roxy Music Where Dead Kennedys got some inspiration from I'll bet 31. Once Bitten Twice Shy - Hunter, Ian & Mick Ronson 32. Motor Bikin' - Spedding, Chris 33. Seven Deadly Finns - Eno, Brian 34. Cherry Bomb - Runaways 35. Solid Gold Easy Action - T-Rex Cool T. Rex, but not my favorite by far 36. Standing In The Road - Blackfoot Sue 37. Dyna Mite - Mud Another cheesy Mud song 38. Angel Face - Glitter Band 39. Dance With The Devil - Powell, Cozy 40. New York Groove - Hello 41. I Love Rock 'n' Roll - Arrows 42. Can The Can - Quatro, Suzi Not that you want to copy this one, but it gives you some suggestions, because I am too lazy to think up my own favorites right now. Some on that album up there are questionable (as in, I never considered or knew they were "glam rock" in the first place), and some I had never even heard of, but it's pretty good. I put the ones I like most in bold. Some other T. Rex favorites of mine that aren't the usual top 3 are: Rabbit Fighter Sunken Rags The Slider Telegram Sam The Groover Jeepster Electric Slim and the Factory Jitterbug Love The Street and Babe Shadow Beltane Walk Seagull Woman Metal Guru Mambo Sun Rip Off If you can get ANY of these songs, it would be a great addition to your compilation. I just love me some Marc Bolan. [Edited 11/9/06 2:01am] "I saw a woman with major Hammer pants on the subway a few weeks ago and totally thought of you." - sextonseven

Uh,...I've been into glam ever since I was a little kid. As I just told my boy sexton, I've run several threads on here in the past on glam artists. To be honest, I never thought that anybody on here even dug glam. Of course, not counting Bowie. Anyway, here's some that I suggest;
Steve Harley. Very, very underrated cat. He had some cool shit. The Sweet Slade Suzi Quatro New York Dolls Early 70's Alice Cooper And of course the 2 B's; Bolan and Bowie. Marc to me, is the real king of glam. Bolan OWNED glam. Bowie of course, was crucial with his Ziggy, Aladdin and Diamond Dogs albums. And the production he did with Lou Reed and Mott was crucial. And Bowie was a better songwriter than Bolan. More consistent. Bowie's concepts were crystal clear and bulletproof. BUT Bolan made glam accessible. And real. Marc paved the way for Bowie's Ziggy. While Bowie was still stuck on Hunky Dory, Bolan had already been kicking ass with glam. Marc's masterpiece "Electric Warrior" from 71, placed him as the King of glam. Bowie had to play catch up with Ziggy in 72. And still, Marc was owning it with non album hits like Children Of The Revolution and his Slider album. Bowie himself knew he couldn't touch Marc during that period. All the little girls would have told David that. SynthiaRose said "I'm in love with blackguitaristz. Especially when he talks about Hendrix."

The movie is o.k. I actually got up and walked out on it when I went to go see it in the theatre. I seriously wasn't in the mood for seeing a lot of the shit that I think fucked up the film. Watching it at home, I was able to skip over certain shit. Didn't like the cat who played Iggy/Lou Reed. The cat that was supposed to be Bowie, ..I don't know,.. all of the characters were waaaay over the top. And not in a good way. Bowie's management at the time, MainMan, was probaly the most accurate in the film. But overall, the characters are too "bitchy". The real artists, Bowie, Iggy, Lou, had to be more well balanced than that. Or they never would have made it in the industry. I know it's a movie based for entertainment but, I thought it undercut the artists in a way. The writer took real life scenerios and twisted it up in a way to serve some kind of purpose. If that shit didn't go down, then don't portray the artists in that light. Don't pass it off as fact. Great song selection for the soundtrack though. "Satalite of Love" was a perfect fit. "Satalite of Love" was a perfect fit. that's why they are not called iggy pop and david bowie. it's not a bio, it's a kind of drug fuelled imiginative take on it, not a biopic by any measure Yeah, I know that. The characters didn't have to be called Iggy and David. It was obvious who was playing who. Again, after a second viewing, I thought it was much better. The visual element was dead on. Especially the opening sequence. The visual and the soundtrack MADE that movie. But that's the true essence of glam anyway, right? The music, attitude and the boa. Aw, who am I kidding? It's going on no matter what. uhh... this is why I want you to post your playlist I've not heard of him I'll do my best. I procrastinate like mad though and tend to forget a lot on top of that, so this could be a while. I still haven't even scanned or posted those pics I'd promised from my Europe trip, and that was 4 months ago! "A Watcher scoffs at gravity!"

Done and seen. The movie's got it's flaws, but I'd count it easily as one of my faves. Though I don't buy Bowie's line about not liking it because he doesn't feel it's accurate or whichever. Of course it's not going to be accurate! It wasn't supposed to be. It's a fictionalized, slightly fan-fiction-y, mashup of the most well-known bits of Glam history, Oscar Wilde, and Sci Fi. I think the real reason DB doesn't like it is cuz it makes him look like a selfish prick. [Edited 11/10/06 22:28pm] "A Watcher scoffs at gravity!"

I've fucked around and worn a green carnation on Halloween in tribute to the man. Just parts of the film was, in the words of a very dated Tommy Lee, was whack. No offense to Lee cuz I think he's "hella" cool. I just think it's funny as hell when Lee uses that word. Maybe cuz nobody else has used it in what, 10 years? [Edited 11/10/06 22:28pm] U know a major oversight in the film was there wasn't a dominant role portraying Bolan. I mean come on, how on earth are u going to even attempt to make a film about glam and not have Marc in the center of it? Really, they could have left Iggy out. I know Bowie was head over heels to work with Pop but, there was waaay more competittion between Bolan and Bowie. Iggy was never really a "glam" artist anyway. He was proto-punk all the way. Let's try that again, shall we? Oh, no doubt. Like I said, the film's got it's problems. Continuity and logic errors are my big bitch about it. I can forgive the fudging of deatils because it really wasn't meant to be a documentary or biopic, but continuity loopholes (like, how in the world does Arthur recognize Mandy on TV when he's never actually seen her? We the viewers have, he hasn't) just smack of lazy writing. "A Watcher scoffs at gravity!"
