i absolutely fucking adore this album. i think homogenic is my favorite bjork album, but this one is just in its own league to me, beyond it being part of bjork's catalog. it's unlike anything else i listen to, yet of course, it's so very bjork. and it's a perfect winter album.

'aurora' and 'it's not up to you' are my favorites. and 'frosti', what there is of it. i love 'generous palmstroke', too - it should have been on the album.

i have a question senor anx,
is true that bjork sampled someone walking on snow for the song frosti?

and if so what do you think of electro-acoustic music?

p.s. sorry for the run-on sentence.
one of my holidays wishes this year is to improve my grammar

yes, she sampled a lot of sounds that she recorded herself and used them on the album. she worked with matmos too, which is a duo who specialize in that kind of sampling and music-making.

i think that style of music is really fascinating, though i think it can also be very difficult to get into, as is the case with me and matmos. reading about their album concepts, i think they're brilliant. geniuses. but i'll be damned if i can get through one of their albums. but yay for them just for existing and being original.

Bjork was the shit with her first two records. "Post" was especially incredible. I remember seeing her in concert on Halloween in San Diego when I was 14, dragging my dad and my friend to see her. I was blown away; I think hearing her perform "HyperBallad" live was the singular greatest live music moment I have exeprienced thus far.

Then that piece of crap called "Homogenic" happened.

It's really depressing...I used to love H.E.R.

Haven't heard "Vespertine" but I was turned off ever since about 1997. The movie she did was fantastic though.

I'll be right next to ya Anx ~ love Homogenic to bits and Vespertine ~ probably the most stunning work I've ever heard.

Freaks my ass in the best way possible! drool drool drool
Once I finally realized my brain wasn't in the gutter and I *WAS* seeing what I thought I was seeing (and I am refering to the non-flesh piercing scenes), well, I got down on my knees and bowed down in awe of such a brilliant piece of work.

An Echo, A Stain does the same to my brain, and I'm high...so high.

I feel the same way. An Echo, A Stain touches a very primal, instinctual part of me. I've not been able to access it entirely but it's like a second heartbeat within me. The entire cd is simply masterful and one of many reasons she is my favourite artist.
