It was either Delirious or Raw?

I think Delerious was the same as this lp--Comedian. I loved this one, also:

Lets Get Small
Wild & Crazy Guy--Steve Martin

An Evening With Wally Londo Featuring Bill Slaszo--George Carlin. Maybe not his best album, but takes me back
[Edited 11/6/06 11:46am]

nod Yeah it's the same Delirious was the title of the HBO special & Comedian was the title of the lp. "Singers" is the bit in question.....me thinks.

Another one woot!

I remember seeing him for the 1st time in Spike Lee's Bamboozeld,,,and got more of seeing him in the Dave Chappelle's Ask The Black Dude sketch, only to find out later that he was basicaly the ROOT of most of the comic materials that were floating around for the past 30 years cool

EXCELLENT picks, pali. A good cross section too. Carlin was important, I know. But,...I never REALLY thought he was THAT funny.

I get ya...for me, Carlin has always been hit or miss overall. But I thought that those two performances contained some of his best work...

nod It's true, he always seemed to be a part of any movement in black comedy...He was a frequent collaborator with Richard Pryor in the 70's, he was part of Robert Townshend's "Hollywood Shuffle" and "Partners in Crime" along with The Wayans in the 80's, and like you said, he was recently a collaborator on the 'Chappelle Show'....

carlin rarely makes me laugh, but quite often i hear his stuff and think "damn, i wish i'd thought of that!" i think he's incredibly witty. i don't think he has the presence or energy of someone like richard pryor, whose stuff i think is more 'laugh out loud' funny.

Carlin's early stuff is a lot more laugh out loud funny. Try "Carlin On Campus" or some of that stuff. As the years went on, he became more of a political commentator, but like you said, it's still clever and witty stuff.

Also, I can't believe no one's mentioned DANE COOK! His "Retaliation" album is HILARIOUS!

definitely one of the smartest comedians ever, and saying socially important things, kind of like Chris Rock is doing now

And very funny at times, but insightful more often

LaWanda Page is my alltime favorite. I have a copy of an old 8 Track of her's called "Mutha Is Half A Word". I love the joke about the white woman in the crazy house....

There was a lady in the crazy house...this was a white broad see....
The bitch was damn crazy they put her in one of those padded cells
Every day, the colored nurse would come check on her.
She could tell the patients' condition by their conversation
Anyway, this white broad was climbin' all the walls just a'screamin'....
I want a LOOOOONG black dick!!!!
That motherfucker was climbin' all up the walls honey.
I want a LOOOOONG black dick!!!!!
The colored nurse said....
You was crazy as hell when they brought you here....
...but you're in your right damn mind now!

The audience participation is hilarious....

LaWanda: This broad gets on the bus...with great big titties honey hangin' down like watermelons!

Lady in the Audience: That was me!

LaWanda: Yeah...that was you. Hangin' down honey!
