I would rather see Lionel Richie or Reuben Studdard get the same attention, both their new singles are great! ______________________________________________

I have to agree with the Overrated tag. John Legend screams BORING to me. I will say that I like his current song "Save Room" but that's it. His voice does absolutely nothing for me. It's like someone trying to sound like a male Mahailia Jackson or something like gospel and it doesn't work for me. Plus what he's doing has already been done before. Nothing new or innovative and even without that, he still doesn't do it for me. I'm not a fan of "old Prince". I'm not a fan of "new Prince". I'm just a fan of Prince. Simple as that

I really liked Ordinairy People but I think the rest of his stuff is boring. RIP Prince: thank U 4 a funky Time...

i love John Legend. I liked his first album and I like the current one that's out now too... although its not an album to put on when you need to get energetic or excited. His current album is something i would put on while sitting by the fire place with a special someone, sipping hazelnut coffee while a classic black and white movie plays in the background. It takes a special person with different views of music to appreciate his music, imo. It's great stuff [Edited 11/8/06 4:52am] I will forever love and miss you...my sweet Prince.

i've gotten so that I don't even like Reuben's music because it all sounds the same. That song he has out now sounds just like "Sorry 2004" and that song was awful. he needs new producers or something. I will forever love and miss you...my sweet Prince.

If you're talking about that new Lionel song that has his daughter in the video, it's as boring as hell.

The problem is that peoples' tatses have changed. As was stated earlier, his first CD was a gem. I was the first one to post about him because I had his CD months before it was released. I didn't care much for "Ordinary People" but I liked a few others. The new CD isn't very strong. I still maintain that he is sort of like the Lionel Ritchie of today, minus the funk of the Commadores.

I personally like John Legend. I mean, he's not the greatest artist, but he makes some great listening music, and his lyrics are fairly engaging. And I think he's more diverse than most of the RnB artists out there today, which keeps "Once Again" interesting. Plus, songs like Maxine, PDA, Once Again and Show Me are outstanding gems. My only complaint is that he needs to work on his voice- its too weak for the range he seems to want to convey. However, I hope he comes up with something more upbeat next time. At this point in history, we have a choice to make

I thought the topic of this thread was John Legend is Overrated. Why did it turn into a gay thread?Anyway,John is overrated.Just because you can play piano, doesn't make you a musical genius. The music fans really need to raise their standards of talent. This is why Kanye West throws a tantrum everytime he doesn't win an award. He thinks he is a musical genius and one of the greatest entertainers of his generation larry luvlife

Nobody called John a genius. He's a talented songwriter. Average compared to who? Chris Brown? Ne-Yo?
I, too would rather listen to Reuben Studdard but not with his current team of producers. He needs Luther's people on his team. his quality of records is shit. john is quality.

john 'the wedding singer' legend is the most overrated artist in the industry right now.his album sounds like the music you hear on the phone while on hold with the gas company.

Where is John Legend overrated? I don't see him getting nearly as much press as Alicia Keys did or someone like Beyonce, which is an unfair comparison because male singers don't get the press that females singers do in 2006. [Edited 11/8/06 23:11pm]

Nah, I actually really like Ruben's first CD. They didn't pick the right singles, but there are some great album tracks IMO. "Whitney was purely and simply one of a kind." ~ Clive Davis
