Went on a weekend vinyl dig and bought these records Inspired by Finess' recent thread,I too went out and did some shopping for vinyl albums.Buying used vinyl records is alot of fun, especially when you find rare records that have never made their debut on CD.This weekend,I went out to Rasputin Music and found the following, all in mint condition:
Ray Parker Jr. and Raydio 'A Woman Needs Love'---This album was only $1.95.Released in 1981,this album contains the hit title track, plus the singles "That Old Song" and "It's Your Night".One question: was the slow jam "So Into You" ever released as a single? When I got to this track,I instantly remembered hearing it alot back in the day.Seems like I heard it on the radio back then. Band Of Gold 'Love Songs Are Back Again'---I paid only $1.00 for this album.Released in 1984.Not so long ago,Vainandy did a thread about the song "Love Songs Are Back Again".It's basically a medley of cover songs from the early 70s: "Sideshow","Let's Put It All Together","Have You Seen Her",etc. It got alot of airplay on R&B radio in late 1983/84,but I had never heard (or seen) the actual album,so I'm thrilled to have this. Luther Vandross 'Busy Body'---Four words: "Make Me A Believer".That's one of Luther's most amazing songs.I paid only $1.00 for this album, which was released in late 1983. Chaka Khan 'Whatcha Gonna Do For Me'---This record was only $1.00.Released in 1981,it's a classic.I think this is Chaka's finest solo album.I love the title track, plus the songs "Fate" and "I Know You,I Live You"...hell,the entire album is excellent! Diana Ross 'Last Time I Saw Him'---Released in 1973.Interestingly,this was the third Diana Ross album of that year.Contains the forgotten single "Love Me",one of my favorites by her. Also features the sad, haunting "Sleeping".I paid only $1.95 for this album. Kool and the Gang 'In The Heart'---Released in 1983.This record only cost me $1.95.Y'all know the hit singles: "Joanna" and "Tonight".I smiled when I saw the inner sleeve, which has a contest where you can win a free 1983/84 Kool and The Gang tour jacket Remember those cheesy satin tour jackets that were so popular back then? LOL. KC and The Sunshine Band 'Who Do Ya Love'---Released in 1978,this album was considered a disappointment for them.None of the singles became big hits.I paid only $1.00 for it,but haven't had the chance to listen to it yet. Heatwave 'Current'---Who says that Heatwave didn't survive into the 80s? This album proves otherwise.Released in 1982,it's a strong record.Contains the hits "Lettin It Loose","The Big Guns" and the slow jam "Look After Love".I also dig the song "State To State",which can best be described as an 80s "Groove Line".It's hard to find old Heatwave albums on vinyl or otherwise,so I was thrilled when I found this. The Miracles 'City Of Angels---When Smokey Robinson left the Miracles for a solo career, many people didn't think the group would survive without him.But they managed to score several big hits, including the relentless "Love Machine",included on this album.Released in late 1975,this record appears to be an ambitious concept album. It was only $1.95 The Miracles 'Love Crazy'---I'm working on a big project right now: transferring my old vinyl records to CD.The problem is,most albums contain only about 45 minutes of music,so I am forced to place two albums on one CD-R,which can hold up to 80s minutes of music. So,when I find an album that I want to record,I have to try to "match it up" with another album that's similar. So this works out great.I'm gonna tape 'City Of Angels' and this album, released in 1977,on one CD.This record, which features the hit "Spy For Brotherhood" only cost me $.1.95. I love Rasputin Music! GREAT store for used vinyl. Those of you in the Bay Area know what I'm talking about or is Rasputin nation-wide? I bet Finess would go crazy at this store.

Some oldies but goodies there for sure! And LOL, thanks for reminding me of those jackets!
Rasputin is one of many things I miss from the Bay Area. Which one did you go to? I loved the one on Telegraph Ave. in Berkeley. Esp. considering there was an Amoeba Records on the same block and heck, it's on Telegraph Avenue, always a fun and interesting place to visit! "I would say that Prince's top thirty percent is great. Of that thirty percent, I'll bet the public has heard twenty percent of it." - Susan Rogers, "Hunting for Prince's Vault", BBC, 2015

I like most of her ballads, and this is a good one. It`s also available on the "To love again" cd, which includes the title track and her cover of "Stay with me", both better than "Love me" I can`t wait til my copy of "I love you" arrives, i ordered the japanese edition with "You take my breath away" as a bonus track

My favorite song from the album is "Still In The Groove". It's funky as hell and reminds of me of "For Those Who Like To Groove" part 2.
I've only got the 45 but I do remember the radio playing the album version of "Love Songs Are Back Again" which is a longer version than the one I have. What other songs are on the album? Andy is a four letter word.

Band of Gold 'Love Songs Are Back Again' album SIDE ONE--- "Love Songs Are Back Again" (full-length version, over 11 minutes) "Just To Say (I Love You)" "In Love Again (theme) SIDE TWO--- "In Love Again" "Lovers Are" "Love Songs Are Back Again" (theme) the track that opens Side Two,"In Love Again",is another medley-song that features a bunch of classic songs from the past:"Reach Out and Touch Somebody's Hand","If You Don't Know Me By Now","Every Little Bit Hurts","Spinnin' and Spinnin","You Make Me Feel Like A Natural Woman" and"What The World Needs Now Is Love".I'm assuming that this was probably the second single, although I don't recall hearing it on the radio back then.

I finally listened to the album and it's pretty good.No uptempo songs, just smooth slow jams.I like the song "I'n Love Again".
