Mariah's album is, realistically, one great single and an album of absolute turd.

Now admittedly, songs such as This Body, Do It To Me and Call On Me are absolute stinkers, and 20YO is probably Janet's weakest release yet, but at least there are a handful of gems to cherish (namely Enjoy, Take Care, Love To Love and So Excited - all great songs by any of her previous albums standards).

To me,"Fly Like A Bird" kills anything on Janet's album.

Fly Like A Bird is a poor mans My Saving Grace if you ask me.

I was really disappointed that Mimi was such a big success as it was her weakest record in years.

Janet's album lacks any songs which have hit potential but there are some quality album tracks (mostly the Jam & Lewis produced ones) behind the garbage.

What? Circles and Sprung are better than any Janet SINGLE of the last 5 years.

i disagree, Janet's first two singles are like someone running their nails down a chalkboard compared to Mariah's album...

I disagree bigtime. 20YO is full of forgettable music and songs that I want to forget. Mimi's album has songs that are most lasting and catchy and I absolutely love "Fly Like a Bird"!. Like someone said, that one song kills Janet's whole album.

Fully disagree.

20 Y.O.'s over hype made the album sounds like it's going to be the best release of the decade, and what did we get? A FILLERS album + 2 good tracks.

Not to mention her moaning and word-eating all along the record, who'd want to groove to a song they can't understand a single word from?

Just give me With You & So Excited, and trash the rest 'cause they're already recycled

Coupled with the fact Mariah is a talented writer & an actual singer, whereas Janet is neither. No way. Unlike Janet, MC went back to reason ppl loved her in the first place. She had a great buzz leading up to her comeback, she delivered the right material, thus making it the best selling album of 2005. Janet & JD wanted that, they tried to pattern her method after 'Mimi' & it blew up in their faces and ongoes the downward spiral as a result.

I'm NOT a die hard Mariah fan,I only started buying her albums with the release of Butterfly.I loved Janet since Control and I zish I could say Janet is still the better one but...no.
The Emancipation of Mimi is one of hte best (comeback)albums I ever heard! Sorry Janet

Ughh, no. I have both albums and have listened to them back-to-back, and Mariah is actually waay better. I still love Janet and I think her album is cute and very fun, but Mariah blew her out of the water with "The Emancipation of Mimi." One of the main reasons I personally feel this way is because Janet has all those damn interludes...Mariah has known. Okay, how long does it take to think up an interlude as apposed to an actual song again? Probably not even 30 seconds. More than two interludes on any album, makes me start deducting points. Out of 16 tracks on Janet's album, 5 of them weren't even songs, they were interludes = only 11 real songs. I only hated "Daybreak", so that's why I won't completely dog the album. Mariah had no interludes and I only hated "Get Your Number", but she made up for that crappy song with the re-issue by putting "Don't Forget About Us" in the mix. So, hands down, Mariah won this little battle.

as much as it kills me to admit this, MIMI is better than 20YO,its Mariah's best album ever, so what do you expect.

i definitely don't agree that 20 Y.O is better. I love Janet and all, but Mariah's Mimi is just killer. The reason why Mimi s***s all over 20 Y.O. is because Mimi has far more memorable songs, the production is predictibly soulful and tight and Mariah's voice is a little stronger and clear than Jan's. I'm not saying 20 Y.O. is a weak effort or anything because it's actually a solid one and a lot better than the All For You joint she dropped 5 years ago. Just wanted Janet to collaborate with her legendary producers-- Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis more on this one since she considers it to be a celebration of her 20 years in the biz since the release of Control.

Janets whole album has decent songs through out the album that you could listen to and enjoy... even thought she might not have ONe major hit song on her album... like mariahs song "we belong together"...

i would say janets album as a whole sounds better than mariahs album...

im sorry but those boring slow songs mariah sings on her new album did not impress me... they were typical.. and had no real good music behind them...

mariah was just lucky because she happened to have two hit songs off her album.. unlike janet... and i know if janet had..had two major hit songs of her album... it would have sold so much more


honestly mariah just has 3 or 4 strong songs and the rest are just weak and typical..

janets album throught out has pretty decent songs... that are above mediocre...

but to be fair... i would NEVER SAY mariahs album is better than janets... or Janets album is better than mariahs...

but I will say I could NOT listen to every song on mariahs album... but i could for janet...

and Mariah's new album reminds me of Charm bracelet... some of the same songs she had on charm bracelet... she used them on her new album... but did anyone say the album charmbracele album sounds great.... NOOOOOoooo...
so now that the media... says mariahs new album and new songs sound great... NOW everyone wants to agree.. and follow along... even though the charmbracelet album had basically the same songs as The IOM... but without 2 major hits....

so im just thinking that people are being fake... and they are just followers..

i dont care if the media wants to give an album bad review... if i like it.. then im going to buy it...
because the media... only supports artist that are popular.. and that they Like...

My sister is a mariah carey fan... and Has NOT even bought her new album... and will not listen to some of the songs on the internet.... only her hits We belong together and shake it off...and dont forget about us

but other than that... she has no interest in the album... because it has mainly filler songs that boring and typical...
and she has her own mind.. and doesnt follow or listen to the media...
