He plays harmonica on another track called "love is on our side again", which is also a great track (shame u cant hear him on that though)

This song has an interesting story behind it. Many years ago, Stevie and Julio were in Spain appearing in separate venues. They met in passing and Stevie told Julio that he had written a song for him. Well, they never got a chance to record that song, it turned out to be, "I just called to say, I love you". About a year after that song came out, they met again. Stevie apologized to Julio and gave him "My love". Quite frankly, I could not see Julio doing "I just called to say, I love you". I love, "My Love".

Julio Iglesias was the 80s Shakira. He wanted to conquer the U$ public and that´s why he recorded that song with Stevie--and he recorded also songs with Willie Nelson and Diana Ross.

Iglesias is a very mediocre artist and he was always talking about how he wanted to be the "Sinatra" of hispanic culture. Bull Shit.

That record was a Stevie mistake. That´s all.

Julio is one of the pioneers in latin music. He wanted his music to cross over into the american music mainstream and it did just that.He was making records in his country long before we even heard of him here. That record with Stevie only helped in his efforts to reach a wider audiance. He has opened the doors for alot of Spanish music artist. It was partly because of him that people like, Shakira and even his own son, were able to have some success here. I would not knock him for that.

If you take Julio Iglesias as "pioneer" or something, is like you take Hotie and the Blowfish instead of Pearl Jam, The Monkees instead of The Beatles, Pat Boone instead of Sinatra, Robbie Williams instead of Bob Dylan.

Julio Iglesias is just crap.

The track "words and music" is one of my all time favs. Cliff magness, who has written some of the best westcoast AOR, co-wrote that song.

That's not the first time that Stevie offered someone a song then kept it for himself.In 1972,he wrote the song "Superstition" and gave it to Jeff Beck to record.At the last minute,Stevie decided to record his own version and it was quickly released as a single.Needless to say,Jeff probably wasn't too happy about that...lol...I think he ended up recording a cover version,but Stevie beat him to the punch.
