I was reading about Lena Horne on wikipedia, and i found this

In 2006 According to Hollywood Sources Lena Horne has indeed blessed Whitney Houston's offer for Houston to play her in the ABC biopic of Lena Horne, citing "This could be a wonderful chance for Whitney to get back into acting she been out since 1996,that's 10 years ago. Whitney Houston is on the road for a big comeback and this would be the perfect incentive. Whitney Houston is beautiful, talented, strong-minded black woman that reminds me of myself. She is now currently my first and only choice to portray me in this upcoming biopic"

it'd be a great come-back vehicle for whitney if she gets her shit together. when she really wants to, she can channel an image of grace and strength. she'll need that to play lena.

Whateva happend to the GREAT amount of 'professional' African American actresses, who consider this accupation as a basic living and who could've taken that role to a higher level? Shouldn't these dumb ass hollywood movie makers cast 'em to portray the role instead of Janet or Whitney?

Wasn't rooting for Janet then, and I still don't root for this one now. They went from casting a bad actress to a WORSE one.

I heard that alicia keys was considered. That makes more sense than janet and whitney.

Alicia would be a much better choice IMHO. Any good biography about Leena would have to discuss the unique prolems faced by fair-skinned blacks in the good old USA, esp. 70-80 years ago. Janet and Whitney are too brown to pull that off. When I was a liitle girl, I thought Leena was white.
