NEW ALBUM: The Beatles - Love (Full Details/tracklisting Here) "LOVE" RELEASED IN STEREO AND 5.1 - ON NOVEMBER 20TH 2006
Tuesday 16th October We are releasing the LOVE album in stereo and 5.1, November 20th. This will be the first Beatles album available in 5.1. The stereo CD will contain 78 minutes of music. The DVD surround sound version on DVD disc album will be a slightly extended version with 81 minutes of music. After being asked by the remaining Beatles, Ringo and Paul, along with Yoko Ono Lennon and Olivia Harrison, to make experimental mixes from their master tapes for a collaboration with Cirque du Soleil, Sir George Martin, The Beatles legendary producer, and his son Giles Martin have been working with the entire archive of Beatles recordings to create LOVE. The result is an unprecedented approach to the music. Using the master tapes at Abbey Road Studios, Sir George and Giles have created a unique soundscape. The release of this album, which is also featured in the Cirque du Soleil/Beatles collaborative production of the same name at The Mirage in Las Vegas, has been much anticipated. “This album puts the Beatles back together again, because suddenly there’s John and George with me and Ringo,” said Paul McCartney. “It’s kind of magical.” “George and Giles did such a great job combining these tracks. It’s really powerful for me and I even heard things I’d forgotten we’d recorded.” commented Ringo Starr. “The album has the feeling of love and that’s why the title is Beatles LOVE,“ added Yoko Ono Lennon, "They have let everything that is beautiful and daring come out.” “The music is stunning. I think the most amazing thing about it is that you can pull it apart and all the elements carry with it the essence of the entire song,” said Olivia Harrison. Tony Wadsworth, Chairman and CEO of EMI Music UK and Ireland said, “George and Giles’ highly original work in creating the LOVE album gives us a genuinely new Beatles album. It makes us respect even more, if that were possible, the creativity and brilliance of the band behind the greatest catalogue in the history of recorded music.” The 5.1 disc is a DVD-Audio/DVD-Video hybrid. The audio is presented in high-resolution 96/24 5.1 surround on the DVD-Audio part of the disc. The DVD-Video part carries 5.1 surround in DTS and Dolby Digital as well as a PCM stereo mix. This DVD album is designed to be played on DVD video equipment but will carry no video component. The LOVE CD and DVD track listing is: 1. Because 2. Get Back 3. Glass Onion 4. Cheerz for the info. Could be interesting or it could be a mess.
Still, it's The Beatles, I'll probably purchase it anyway.

It will be interesting, since its some of their best stuff, i saw the commercial and the songs dont really sound any different then before however, so im hoping this is not going to just be another "best of" but just songs of Love, but Im hopeful because Julian gave his "thumbs up" to it and i know he was against the anthology working of new tracks with Johns vocals. looks like a cash-in...how many times can you put out the same music in a different package???...even music as wonderful as the beatles produced....sounds like a money making excuse to me but i hope i am wrong.

Yeah, they'd be better off remastering the entire catalogue and just leaving it at that. The amount of Beatles compilations released over the years is just ridiculous.

I've been holding off on buying The Beatles catelogue for ages waiting for them to be remastered. Now I'm wondering if it's even worth it. I can't wait too much longer. How much better could they possibly sound anyway?

A fuck of a lot better. Apparantly EMI are hoping to reissue the catalogue in the not too disatnt future, so it might be worth waiting that little bit longer.

Those first CD issues are almost 20 years old and sound quite tame today. Hopefully they'll get permission to do a little remixing as well as remastering. They need it.

no, but really, how is this a "new" cd? that's not a rhetorical question. what is different about it? Tracks are mixed into and overlap each other. For example, Harrison's Within You Without You is layered over the beat of Lennon's Tomorrow Never Knows, and such like. Apparently.

Some beatles fans would pay big bucks for a decent audio of John Lennon farting for fuck sake. It just sounds pointless

Would you buy an album of Glenn Medeiros farting? Hey, who told u about glenn? Just sayin', people who buy demo's and parts of unfinished songs are obsessive, and some beatles fans are like this. Remember "free as a bird"? That song was rubbish

An Experience in Creation…
As Music Directors for LOVE, Sir George Martin and his son Giles Martin are at the epicenter of a revolution in the musical legacy of The Beatles. Using the master tapes at Abbey Road Studios, the Martins have spent the last two years constructing the music for LOVE by combining every facet of The Beatles recordings. How hard was it to choose the songs that would become a part of LOVE? Sir George Martin: "One of the challenges of the job was getting the balance of the songs right. We wanted to make sure there are enough good, solid hit songs in the show, but we don't want it to be a catalog of 'best of's'. We also wanted to put in some interesting and not well-known Beatles music and use fragments of songs." What would you say was the greatest challenge you faced with LOVE? Giles Martin: "Our mission was to try and achieve the same intimacy we get when listening to the master tapes at the studio. The songs sound so alive!" ...And Sound! The panoramic sound experience in the custom built theatre will be the closest anyone will get to hearing the band play live again and the closest anyone can get to actually being in the studios with them. How would you describe the experience of LOVE? Giles Martin: A lot of people listen to The Beatles in a conventional way (radio, MP3 Player or car, for example) but never in such a space. With the huge amount of speakers in the theatre, I think we will achieve a real sense of drama with the music, the audience will feel as though they are actually in the room with the band. People are going to be knocked out by what they are hearing!" Using the techniques that Sir George Martin pioneered in the sixties, linked to the best technology today, Sir George and Giles have created a unique, groundbreaking soundscape of original Beatles music for the show. Each listener will be immersed in the world of The Beatles. ----- that was about the show, but its very relevant [Edited 10/25/06 17:49pm]

its just like if Nigel Godrich decided to present Kid A in a new way, i'd be down with it since he is part of it.

What is this "Gnik Nus" track? Could it be the surprise inclusion of the 28-minute Helter Skelter Jam?
Or "Carnival of Light" in disguise?

I hope it is significantly different than the originals. But I was very happy with Let It Be...Naked. It sounded great, and that was enough. My Legacy
