Another flop movie for Eddie Murphy

Is Eddie Murphy over? It seems that the only time he gets a hit movie these days is when he's talking to animals...lol...

His latest film 'The Adventures of Pluto Nash' opened last Friday. It grossed a measly $ 2.15 million over the weekend, coming in at Number 10 for the week. The sad thing is,this dud cost over $90 million to make!!

His previous movie 'Showtime' with Robert Deniro was also a flop.Is his career in trouble? Or is he just picking the wrong scripts?

Eddie always has hits & misses. He had 2 monster hits with his Dr. Doolittle films.

I saw "Showtime" recently on DVD, man, there were a couple of scenes that had my brown ass bustin' up! I don't understand why that one bombed...it really was funny!

"Pluto Nash" just looks stupid. But, maybe if it bombs in the theatre and does well on video, the studio still makes their money and he still gets 2 make films.

Hey don't 4get "Bowfinger", that wasn't a major hit, but (imo) one of his funniest films!

Yeah, for some reason, people mainly wanna see him on-screen talking to the animals...lol...when he tries to do something different,he usually fails.

Never even heard of that movie.

That one came and went REAL QUICK! I had almost forgotten it. One thing about it though; Murphy doesn't seem to have any more flops than Kevin Costner.
This post not for the wimp contingent. All whiny wusses avert your eyes.

no, it's time for yet another remake, I Spy. can't remember who the white guy is, but we'll see how Murphy does in Bill Cosby's place...

Eddie surrounds himself with people who tell him he's great all the time...like someone else we know...

I like Eddie better in comedy/police cop roles (Beverly Hills Cop/Metro). He should go back to doing more roles like that. He paved the way for people like Chris Tucker.

Eddie is Clonned to death in Hollywood.name anybody Named Chris&they are Influenced by Eddie or have taking His Style.same with Martin Lawrence.Eddie stopped Challenging Himself long ago IMHO.He is happy with doing Jerry Lewis Re-makes which while Jerry had a few decent films isn't the kind of Material somebody like Eddie Murphy should be doing IMHO.Eddie got too safe&Predictable almost 10 years back&Hasn't come out of that Shell IMHO.after Beverly Hills Cop3 tanked He knew He needed to make sure Fire Loot&that is the ROute He has taken. He has to Pay the Bills but Damn I Long for the days for a Eddie Murphy Live Set Un-Cut.I Remember back in the day when the White Cats would Say all the Eddie Murphy Lines from "Delirious"&"Raw" two Years Later&still cracking up over them.Eddie Murphy in His Hey Day was to Comedy what Michael Jackson was to Pop Music.A true Event Back in the day IMHO!

u are sooo correct about the last statement.
but tell me, what types of roles should he pursue?
what should he do,etc. to challenge himself and become the "event" he was in the 80s?

maybe Eddie needs to find a serious role in a drama pic? look at the way DeNiro has almost re-invented himself into a comedic actor...and Burt Reynolds' forays into drama after all those car movies...not to mention Tom Hanks after all those shitty comedies (and Bosom Buddies...) maybe put Eddie in a TV drama or sitcom? at least get his ass doing standup again, like Robin Williams' recent return to live performance? just don't let Murphy make more CD's..."Wasupwitu," indeed...

thank you.He has to get back to being on the Edge&Be Himself instead of trying to be something He isn't a Family type of Comedian.Even Crazy Ass Robin Williams will Mix it up? Eddie Murphy is just playing it safe.He has to take it back to the Stage Un-Cut&Raw.

I have to admit I did love the first Nutty Professor back in 95 or 96. And Eddie did a great job in Bowfinger with Steve Martin. Check out that movie if you haven't seen it yet. It was fun to see him play such a geek!

Other than those two movies, Eddie hasn't done anything good since Coming to America in 92.

Not so fast jtgillia!!! lol

I think the film "Life" with Eddie and Martin Lawrence was funny as hell. The title sucked, but the film was a very good comedy.

"Harlem Nights" was also pretty funny, imo. Richard Pryor, Della Reese (shot in the toe...damn, that was funny!), and the late, great Redd Foxx...with Arsenio Hall as this freaky, geeky hit man. Written, produced, directed and starring Eddie Murphy, he may have bit off more than he could chew, but the end result was a really nicely done comedy.

If ever Eddie deserved an "Oscar", he should have been nominated in the comedy "Bowfinger"... His performance as both the geek and the superstar were fantastic! 2 bad it didn't happen.

Check out both those that I mentioned above, if u haven't already...2 good ones!
