The Knife Live...

I am still in shock. The shortest performance I have ever seen. Even shorter than Björk in the Melkweg, back in the day. Shocking.

Wearing masks, cut off from their audience by a see-through screen on which projections were shown, the band performed, maybe eight songs, lasting around 40 to 45 minutes (in my experience; I have often found out short performances lasted longer than I remember and vice versa)

Horrid part is that their music translated to an audience REALLY well. Their performance static, their music to a large degree as well, still their music has the possibility to be VERY personal, as you can project your own feelings onto their sound-scapes and beats.

The way in which their short show was presented was stuff for amazement; the projections were intrigueing, I thought and helped me get into a state of mind I had not experienced since, well, summer of 89 in an Amsterdam house club called Roxy. In Holland that club spearheaded the house culture and I was very much addicted to the place.

Thing is, back then I needed lil pills called E and that time was the beginning of my, thank deity, shortlived coke addiction.
But The Knife was able to shift my being back into that careless 'let-the-beat-take-control' state of mind that had me dancing for hours.

Hehehe. I loved the feeling of shock when the show ended when it did. As my sweet friend Joanne aptly put it; 'It sucked, but in the best possible way', meaning she was a bit bummed that it ended when it did, but that it did not really matter as what they played was so intensely satisfying.

They played all my faves anyways. Purrrrr. So I am a very happy hamster. Even if they come play 45 minutes in YOUR town; go see them. They rock my world.
