I think her jazz records are her best, "Dream street" and the "For Ella" album is wonderful...

I wonder if she will release a christmas album, her voice is perfect for it.

I'm fimiliar with that too,,,,but somehow, cover albums/standards leaves a bad taste in my mouth.

I probably shouldn't say this since I love Echos Of An Era from Chaka. But knowing what these sistas COULD do while the sky's the limit, and all they settle with is doing these albums; sounds like a "safe" move.

I can't judge 'em to be honest, coz god knows how tough the house mortgage/rent, gas price and all the other stuff that keeps a roof up on our heads are.

I like Diana Ross` "Blue" album, and several other standards albums, but it can get a little too much, it seems like EVERYONE`S doing it now.

What annoys me is that it`s the same songs that get covered over and over again, they could have chosen less obvious songs

Personally, i don`t like her the music she made for columbia, i bought two cd called "Soul sister" and "Aretha sings the blues", hearing her sing "It's In His Kiss " didn`t do much for me, but there`s some hidden gems, like "Take a look"

I read in your profile that Miki Howards` "Miki sings Billie" is one of your favorite albums, i LOVE that album too, "Ain`t nobody`s business if i do" always makes me smile
