According to the latest word on Madonnatribe, this new album news is all FALSE.

She's going to do more charity in Africa, release some more children's books (yawn) and put out her own fragrance next year. No new album.

Rumour is that she's already set to tour again in 2008

no new album...but a tour? i guess anything's possible but what would she be promoting? lol

I might be in the minority here, but I'd love for Madonna to continue with Stuart Price. With him, she seems really inspired.

She should definitely dump Mirwais though. I think she's used him quite enough. Musically, she should continue with the club/disco theme. Maybe not exactly like COADF, but at least with the same theme. COADF was definitely one of her best works (Behind Like a Prayer, Ray of Light and Erotica of course), and when her 2nd and 3rd singles were tanking on mainstream radio, the club scene and dance radio was really there to back her up. So she should continue with this, ala Bowie's Berlin years

I don't want a pop record.
I don't want a dance record.
I don't want an electronica record.

I wish she'd go back to R&B honestly. "Bedtime Stories" and "Erotica" are her finest hours, along with her debut which was very R&B influenced. I think some nice mid-tempo feel good soulful ballads along the lines of "Secret" and "I Want You." She can't top the whole dance/club/disco thing after "Hung Up" and "Jump" IMO.

I can't imagine her doing a real R&b album in this envoirnment. She'd probably go for the charts and it would feature odd rap collobratortions and suck. Now if she did do a more tradtional R&B album like "Bedtime", that would be edgy!

Last year,Cyndi Lauper said that she and Madonna would finally work on a song together.

Hey, that would be great! Their duet would fit well on a rockier Madonna album! smile
...and it would put Cyndi back on the map... smile

She could also use more live instruments. guitar
I'm very tired of Veronica Electronica. smile

Madonna release date: Nov 14th.
fan reaction on the 15th: "Damn. she's needs to hurry up and release a new cd!"

lol nod It spills over from our ridiculous expectation of new Prince music daily!! wink

I gotta say, that rock album sounds intriguing, esp. if she practices her guitar-playin' azz off for a year or two guitar How fun that could be, and all kinds of collaboration possibilites too! nod

For now, I'm sure we'll get something along the lines of or building on COADF, if no other reason than she's already been quoted saying as much. Wonder if she will keep working with Stuart? hmmm

I liked the r+b idea too, but on the other hand I agree with the objections...how would that fit in today's music scene?

As for timing...the "big tour in 2008" rumor seems strong and makes sense, so I'm sure we'll have something by the end of 2007. Maybe it depends on what other sort of projects she takes on ("Mama Mia"??) or how much time she spends on her charity. wink

Anyone got any idea when she's obligated to have a new album together?

its 25 years after the first album was released.

Even though Everybody came out in 82 the First Album wasn't released until 83 so that means she won't be eligible until 2008

i believe it's first released recording, not album. from the RRHOF website: "Artists become eligible for induction 25 years after the release of their first record."

Performers
Artists become eligible for induction 25 years after the release of their first record. Criteria include the influence and significance of the artist’s contributions to the development and perpetuation of rock and roll.

is the only thing listed on the website.

"first record" includes singles. because in the early days of rock & roll there were no albums. it was a singles genre.

i came across this: R&R Hall of Fame

Each year the ceremonies honor a small group of artists for their contribution to music history. Current eligibility rules dictate 25 years from an artist or group's first record release.

Each artist/group's presentation is usually followed by a special performance from the inductee (or, if the artist(s) has/have died, by an associate of or representing the artist).

hmmm could it be either?

well they haven't inducted Donna Summer yet, but they induct Blondie. So it will be interesting if and when they vote in Madonna.

the numbers speak for themselves as does her cultural impact but they may not because of the homophobia that is included in the margilization of Disco and and Dance music

Deserving of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame?
***The 2006 Inductees have been announced for the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame (# indicates where they were on this poll at the time of their induction announcement). These artists have been removed from this list since they are now official members of the hall. Lynyrd Skynyrd (1), Blondie (5), Black Sabbath (17), Sex Pistols (29), Miles Davis (119) *** To see a list of current inductees, go to: http://www.rockhall.com/h...uctees.asp There are over 400 artists on this list that you can vote for. If you'd like to see an alphabetical list of this list's artists and bands, go to: http://supergroup.netfirm...llfame.htm What artist or group deserves to be in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, but has been overlooked?!? Thanks to your suggestions, I made a lot of additional choices. Remember an artist is only eligible if their first release was at least 25 years ago. I am now including artists whose first release was in 1982 (like REM, Metallica and Madonna) since they will be eligible in 2007 - refer to www.allmusic.com for reference. --Also -- Guns n' Roses or Bon Jovi are not eligible for a few more years - but in the meanwhile, vote for members of my USA Supergroup and my Metal Supergroup - just do a search for Supergroup on the Rateitall Weblists. i think they're beyond that at this point. they used to be kind of snobby, but in the last several yeras, they've lightened up on that to get more into step with the times. Madonna will be inducted her first eligible year, I'm guessing. Donna Summer sort of missed that window and is being forgotten at the moment. She'll be more of an afterhtought. Had they had the current attitude 10 or 15 years ago, she'd have gotten in then.

Madonna will still be in 2008, because I think the cut-off for nomination is that your record had to be out before June of the eligible year. I think that was what was being said here when it was Prince's turn. He should've been eligible in 2003 if it was just based on the year, but because "For You" and "Soft And Wet" missed the cut-off, 2004 was the first year he was eligible, and he got in the first time.

I like how that one works, since of course Donna Summer influenced Blondie (or at least Debbie Harry, as she readily admits). I don't understand why Donna ins't in there....the biggest slap in the face would be if that one hit wonder (I know she's had more than one hit but in comparison to Donna) Gloria Gaynor gets in just based on "I Will Survive". BTW, related to Donna, is Diana Ross in solo? If not, that's telling.
